We had our network manager depart recently. He neglected to share much knowledge about his duties before he left. I've been asked by the CIO to provide a report listing all of the exchange accounts that he had "full access permissions" to.
I'm a novice with exchange and powershell. Can someone share the command to discover the required data.
I need to show a list of all of the exchange accounts that John Doe has full access permissions to.

I had a second exchange 2010 server with a DAG setup between the primary production exchange 2010 server and the secondary one which was at our DR site. I did a DR test and ended up having to break the DAG and mount the DB manually for the DR test. AS a
result this second exchange server has been switched off and I have removed the DAG from the production side and all is ok with that. I am planning to move to a netapp exchange replication solution instead of dag for DR. As the DAG does not work well as a
DR solution.
The only problem that remains is that I still have the old server listed under servers and there is a public folder database that is still listed from the second server. Is there a way to remove this inasscible server from exchange without doing it through ASDIedit? There is no way that i can turn this second server on again.
I have a 2 Exchange 2010 servers installed on Server 2008 r2. Both have all roles, one is used as the primary server and the second is a passive back up. My question is about how to monitor when a database fails over to my passive server. It seems like there should be an event logged, probably on the server that is taking the active copy since in theory the other one is non responsive for one reason or another. I've dug through the logs and I've found some events that seem to occur around that time, but nothing that definitely says that a failover has occurred. Can anybody point me towards a reliable method of monitoring this?

We've started to get complaints that OWA search isn't working - it doesn't return any results for items which are manually located in the mailbox... however whenever I test it from my client, it works fine. I've seen them perform the process and it is the exact same steps I'm using. They advise it has worked for them in the past, however.
We recently (moves completed about two weeks ago, relocated one database to another local LUN last Friday) went through a process of moving all the mailboxes from a single large database to multiple smaller databases. All of our databases have IndexEnabled, though.
Is there a way to locate the content index health for the databases? Should I stop the Search Indexer service, delete the catalog folders, and then restart the service?
Other suggestions?
Essentially this is what happened. When server was originally configured, the URL for Outlook Anywhere was set as mail.company.com. At some point down the line, something happened and they had to change the url used for a new SSL cert, and started using secure.company.com. Everything has been working fine, you can access OWA at secure.company.com, no issues,but I have noticed that on Outlook 2010 clients, a warning comes up everytime outlook is opened, stating that the name on the security cert does not match the name of the site. Since the cert does not have the mail.company.com name, but rather secure.company.com.
I have attempted to change the URL in the proxy settings in outlook, but it always automatically changes back.
So I opened up the EMC and found in the OA properties the external host name is set as mail.company.com and appears that it can be easily changed. So is it safe to just change this to secure.company.com? And if I do, will this resolve the issue? Is there anywhere else i need to change this. I just have this fear that there is more that I need to do, such as in the shell to reconfigure, but don't want to overcomplicate.
This is NOT a situation, how some people have, that their internal server name starts populating their OWA settings, this is simply I need to change it from one host name to another so that the HTTP settings in outlook match the cert I presume.

I have this client who is running a exchange 2010 server at their main location and until recently was using it to accept two domains. Well they decided to resurect an old windows server 2003 with exchange 2003 to be installed at a remote location it is it's own Domain and everything is stand alone, and we made it accept one of the domains for email. So the two domains are now seperate to two different exchange servers. Everything was fine, setup of users, and test of sending and recieving of emails etc. UNtil....
Four users wanted their mailbox from the exchange 2010 server and import it into the exchange 2003. So I made a pst file by exporting the accounts via outlook 2007 or 2010. I then imported the accounts into exchange by the same version of outlook. By browsing the mail accounts in outlook it is fine. However if they try to view in owa or on the phones, the email messages will be there but unable to see any attachments. Funny enough if browsing the owa with firefox and I hit forward to a message it will show me the attachments in the forward compose window only this does not happen in IE.
I know that I should be avoiding exchange 2003 but they wouldn't hear of it and wanted to use it. I have scoured the internet and going through all hotfixes I could find and any article/forum that would be similar but to no avail. I have exchange 2003 fully updated.
Unfortunatly I can't just use outlook because the people that use it are remote uses and rely heavly on phone or owa. Is there something that makes the exchange 2003 owa not view attachments when emails were in 2010 and then imported into exchange 2003? I am thinking that this may be the case and there may not be a solution other then upgrading it.. but figured I would post first.
By the way, any new email that comes in with an attachment can be viewed fine in OWA and on smart phones

I have a strange issue here. I am trying to create a new contact entry in a Contact Type, Public folder. No matter what i do I always get the following error when trying to create a new contact:

I can edit an existing contact, also i can add/edit/delete contacts from another Contact Public Folder. Its just this one (above) that gives me the error.
I have reset the permissions, checked them with ExFolders, checked them with the EMS etc. The permissions are correct, there are no limitations for database size and this particular PF is about 16 MBs in size.
I get the same problem with OWA, and Outlook. When testing with Outlook i get the following error message:
Usually this error message occurs when your mailbox has exceeded the size limit established by your administrator. Or, your mailbox has exceeded the mailbox size restriction of two terabytes.
To eliminate this issue, archive or delete messages until the size of the mailbox is less than the limitation imposed by the administrator or is less than two terabytes, whichever is smaller.
There are no limits set on the PF database itself, so that shouldn't be an issue.
Any ideas?

We are moving to Exchange 2010 from Exchange 2003 and have noticed that users who have been created on or migrated to Exchange 2010 who also use Outlook 2003 can only see 2 months worth of free busy information.
After doing some testing this is only an issue if the user who is looking at the free busy is located on Exchange 2010 and they are using Outlook 2003. It doesn't matter if the mailboxes they are looking at are on Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2010.
If the user uses Outlook 2007 they see free/busy past 2 months.
We configure Outlook to publish 12 months of free/busy.
Any help would be appreciated.

we have an issue where we have Exchange 2010 DAG, 2 members in primary site, and 1 member in the DR site
we have a separate replication network at each site on its own VLAN etc, config is below:
SITE1:
EXCH1 192.168.1.1 - MAPI
EXCH1 10..1.1.1 - DAG
EXCH2 192.168.1.2 - MAPI
EXCH2 10.1.1.2 - DAG
SITE2:
EXCHDR3 - 192.168.3.1 - MAPI
EXCHDR3 - 10.1.3.1 - DAG
there are static routes added for the DAG networks using netsh, these work, pings and traffic work as expected out the correct interfaces.
all hosts can talk to each other, and after allot of work, we have the DAG working as expected, with one Mounted and 2 healthy DB's
now the issue is: all of these hosts are sending packets out of the MAPI interface on port 445 to the DAG IP's of the other mebers, even the two that are in the same site, and have local connections to each others 10.10.x network
i.e., EXCH1 wants to send a packet to EXCH2 10.1.1.2, but it leaves the 192.168.1.1 interface, not the 10.1.1.1 interface, and this is routed via the default GW.
and the same goes for all the others, each member is trying to send 445 packets to 10.10.x.x hosts out the 192.168.x.x interface
note that all the DAG traffic does go out the correct interface, so there is traffic on port 64327 going out the 10.1.x.x interfaces and arriving at the correct interface of the receiver no problem.
so my question is - why? DAG isn't supposed to use 445 anyway, and why on earth would it try to contact an IP that it has a local interface to the subnet for, out a different interface?
and is this a problem? as the DAG seems to be working OK but the logs look horrible
this is a really odd issue and any help would be appreciated
I have recently moved our changes 2010 environment from server 2008 r2 servers to 2012 r2.
I moved the mailbox servers first and everything was working fine. I then installed the HUB/CA role on to the server 2012r2 server and then uninstalled the old 2008r2 server.
OWA works i.e you can access mail as does outlook, we are reciving external email but we cannot send anything.
Mail goes straight to the drafts and doesn't go anywhere. I am at a loss but have a weird feeling I have missed something obvious any ideas welcome.

We are in the phase where we Will enable Online Archive for all the users.
We see that the default Archiving Quota is set up for 50 GB. We have found this powershell command on MsTechnet forum
Get-Mailbox -resultsize unlimited | where {$_.ArchiveDatabase -ne $null} | set-mailbox -ArchiveQuota 7GB -ArchiveWarningQuota 6GB
which I guess it will set up the ArchiveQuota to 7GB to all the users, true?
The question is if this command will work only for those users who currently have archiving enabled or it Will also work for those users which we are planing to enable archiving in the future?
The idea is that everyone would not have 50GB by default and this should be a default value also for those who currently do not have archiving enabled.

when I installed Exchange 2010 it created a new administrative group in Exchange 2003 organisation (The FYDIBO). It did this to connect to the existing organisation, now I need to remove them.
So for correct way I should delete the two mentioned with arrow and the other I don't touche ?
