New-MailboxImportRequest: mailbox folders in different languages after import

0
0

Hi,

I want to import 1800 Outlook 2003 .pst files into Exchange 2010 SP1. All mailboxes have been created and will be accessed with OL 2007 SP2 Dutch client in online mode (W2K8 Terminal Servers).

I am able to import a .pst but after the import I see all default mailbox folders in both English and Dutch language:

Inbox and ‘Postvak IN’

Deleted Items and ‘Verwijderde Items’

Etc

The .pst file seems ok: only Dutch default mailbox folders.

I’ve tried the following:

·        Create mailbox, send test mail to mailbox, Import .pst: same result

·        Create mailbox, set-mailbox mailbox –Languages Nl-nl, import .pst: same result

·        Create mailbox, access mailbox with OL 2007 Dutch client, import.pst: default mailbox folders in Dutch language only

However, accessing 1800 mailboxes with OL 2007 Dutch client before .pst import is no option. Anyone any ideas?

Regards, Martijn

KB 977624 says the OS does not need it but Exchange 2010 says it needs it

I am running 2008 R2 as a virtual machine on 2012 and trying to install Exchange 2010 in to the 2008 virtual machine, but I cannot get past the installation of hotfix KB977624 which will not install as it say the OS does not need it, but everytime you run the Exchange install it tells you the prerequisites are not met and needs this fix. - Any ideas?

Achieving only completed tasks on Exchange 2010

Hi All

I installed the Update rollup 4 for exchange 2010 service pack 2 couple of weeks ago.  All users’ mailboxes are moved to achieve mailbox after 3 months. Now after the update calendar and tasks moves across as well as expected.

I have one user that does not want his “not completed tasks” moved to the archive.

Is this possible? Or is there a way just for this user not to archive the tasks folder?

Thanks in advance

SMTP no authentication required

Hi, my recent Exchange Server 2010 deployment seem got issue with SMTP authentication. When I create an account and used to send mail for system alert to system administrator, but it seem no password is required for the setting. For example, I created an email account for Firewall to send log file to other account but this email account used for firewall must set to no authentication on firewall if not then it would be able to send out email. Please advise. Thanks.

Autodiscover for Office 2011 for Mac not working

0
0

Hi all,

Recently upgraded our organization to 2010, and also recently enabled autodiscover for the first time as well.

Autodiscover works to all clients (Outlook, Outlook Anywhere, ActiveSync, etc.) and passes all tests on testexchangeconnectivity.com, except for whatever reason, it will not work on Outlook 2011 for Mac. It will even autodiscover on Mac Mail.

To that end, I enabled logging on Outlook 2011 for Mac, and I get these results:

[  8867876us, d        17us] Outlook Exchange Auto Configure: Querying https://autodiscover.<our organization (hidden)>/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml

[  8868124us, d       248us] Outlook Exchange Web Services: EWS: Response data received on thread=0x7c6b4384, XML data=

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

...

Here the XML is received with the test user's information, everything looks right to me.

...

[  8868124us, d         0us] Outlook Exchange Auto Configure:  Error code: -17890

I looked up the error and the only page I found was this: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/exchange2010/thread/88ddaf28-de7a-4048-af27-4972b11a212a?prof=require, which ended up saying install Update Rollup 1 for Exchange 2010 SP2.

I have installed Update Rollup 4 for Exchange 2010 SP2, and auto discover on Office 2011 for Mac is still not working. Does anyone have any idea where I can figure out why autodiscover does not work for Office 2011 for Mac users only?

Thanks

Backup AD before extend schema - Exchange Server Installation

Hello,

Is it really necessary execute a backup of Active Directory before run "setup /PrepareSchema", "setup /PrepareAD" or "setup /PrepareAllDomains"during the installation process of Exchange Server 2010?

If yes, what is the better solutions (process) to backup andRESTORE of AD (assuming there are several ADs in my forest)?

Thanks,

Missing attachment [Fixed]

Fixed using the following:

Exchange Server 2010

1.      Stop the Exchange Transport service.

2.      Locate the EdgeTransport.exe.config file. This file is located in the following path:

<drive> :\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Bin\

3.      In the EdgeTransport.exe.config file, add the following entry between the <appSettings> element and the </appSettings> element:

<add key="TreatInlineDispositionAsAttachment" value="true" />

4.      Restart the Transport service.

We have a problem when receiving emails from a particular sender. The problem is that the attachments don't show up in Outlook 2010 or OWA, but if you view original message in OWA you can see the attachment.

I managed to intercept the mail using our Barracuda Firewall and Antispam and save the message as an EML file. I have noticed the problem lies with:

Content-Disposition; inline; filename=Oak.jpg

If I change this to

Content-Disposition; attachment; filename=Oak.jpg

and resend the message I can see the attachment. I SP2 and Update Rollup 4-v2 for Ex 2010 SP2 installed.

Exchange archiving mailbox 2010

Hi,

One of my client having exch 2010 SP2(2 MB, 2 Hub/Cas) and same setup in DR site. We are planning for archiving for all users. Let me explain how we are planning for archiving.

Going to create separate DAG and DB for archiving mailbox in same MB servers.

But the issue is, due to lack of storage space we don't want to replicate this archive db mailbox dag in DR site. Anybody tell me what are the problems I will face because of this...

  Any suggestions please...

Hi, one of my Exchange user received a lot of mails which send from MicrosoftExchange329e71ec88ae4615bbc36ab6ce41109e@<domain>.local

The mails subject are "Undeliverable" and "Delivery delayed:". I am wondering is it this user account has been hijacked to send those spam mails?

Another autodiscover question

Hi - I've exhausted the internet & forums trying to fix an OOF issue. Here are the symptoms:

Exchange Server 2010 SP1 hosted mode, also separate CAS Array

Outlook 2010 64bit

Certain users can access OOF. I see an autodiscover.xml file downloaded to their profile folder.

Certain users who are on the same server (citrix environment) same application of Outlook 2010 can not.

The Olkcas log is useful but I'm not sure where to go

My searches keep pointing me at the legacy DN but these are the same for users that work and those that dont. I've tried recreating mail profiles but this does not affect the result. I'm assuming autodiscover is working as the xml file is pulled down each time i delete it from the profile of a working user. Permissions are set to authenticated users, I've even tried everyone.

Any ideas anyone?

Deleting items from outlook stil in box

We have currently 1 exchange 2010 server on a SBS 2011 server. No other exchange servers are in place.

When we connect to exchange with outlook 2003 and for example delete a mail, sometimes it deletes the mail right away some times the mail still shows in outook. When switching folders it seems to dissappear. When tryning to delete a 2e time we get an error.

So the is in both cases deleted, but somehow exchange does not refresh the outlook view rigth away, maybe because the exchange server is busy? But we run it on a DL380 G6 server with 32GB mem.

The only other tasks it perform is WSUS and AD and printing and we use the Inox pop connector.

NOD Eset 5.x is also running.

Any one any idear what is causing this?

what name to use in exchange certificate?

0
0

outlook clients in site A connect to casarray1.domain.com as the exchange server name in outlook's profile.
This is also the name on the exchange cas certificate.
The cas array in site B is casarray2.domain.com
Site B is disaster recovery standby only. If site A fails, I would make a DNS change so that casarray1 points to the ip address of casarray2. Hope that makes sense. I am open to other alternatives.

What I ask is, what name should I have on exchange cas server certificate? casarray1.domain.com or casarray2.domain.com ?

Recover mails from soft deleted mail boxes

0

Hi,

We have 3 soft deleted mailboxes and we have the guids. Is there a way we can extract the emails from these mailboxes to a pst or something?

I have tried attaching the mailbox to a new mailbox account created using the New-MailboxRestoreRequest and used the allowlegacydnmismatch command as it asked and it showed as queued.

Then when I ran the get-mailboxrestorerequest command it shows as blank.

We have a new mailbox for these users and just want to extract the mail from these disconnected mailboxes.

We have another way to recover this mail by using the edb file. The issue with this is that the database has not been written to due to a corrupt log file. Is there a way to fix this and role it all up?

unable to specify the DefaultConfigurationDomainController on exchange 2010 server

Hi, masters

I'm almost ready to retire my old Exchange 2003 server which now holds a GC role in my corp AD environment. It used to be a DC as well as a couple of FSMO roles.

I want to force my Exch 2010 server to use new DC and GC before I demote the Exch 2003 server. I failed to do so by using the command  "Set-ADServerSettings -PreferredServer"

Any thoughts?

Hi:

We have two Exchange Servers, one that is the Edge (EDGE01) and one that is the CAS/MAILBOX/HUB (EXCHANGE01) and are sync between the two isn't working.  I ran "Get-ExchangeServer" on EDGE01 and it has our old Exchange 2007 server listed for Client Access and our new Exchange 2010 server as Mailbox.  How do I change this assignment so that the new Exchange 2010 server is also Client Access?

Thank you,

Exchange 2010 White Space inconsistency

0
0

We have a DAG consisting of two nodes on an exchange 2010 SP2 RU3. Node A has 10 DB Active and Node B has 10 DBs which are copies of Node A. I am seeing an inconsistency between the total size of all mailboxes in a database and the amount of white space displayed in PS. Let take an eexamble:

DB1 has 200 Users. If I do a getmailboxstatistices and add all totalitemsize of each mailbox it ammounts to : 600,000,000,000 bytes. However the size of DB1.edb is 750,000,000,000.  If I issue the commandGet-MailboxDatabase 'DB1' -Status | FL AvailableNewMailboxSpace I get 50 MB. So basically I am seeing a difference of 139 GB between the size of the edb file and the total size of all the 200 mailboxes on that DB yet it's only showing 50 MB white space. Am I missing something? What could be populating all of that 139 GB? By the way, this behavior is seen on all databases.

Thanks

Delete All Email from a User's Mailbox Folder

Hello -

We are running Exchange 2010 SP2. One of our executive officer's "Deleted Items" folders has continually duplicated itself (somehow...we know Outlook for Mac was involved...but not the issue anymore) to the point where the folder contains 55 GB of email content!!

So...simple fix, right? Just empty the Deleted Items. Doesn't work - Exchange continually gives errors (ranging from "maximum size exceeded" to "you cannot delete more than 4000 emails at a time" to other nonsense errors).

So, I'm now trying to find a way from EMS to delete all content in the "Deleted Items" folder...however, Exchange 2010 SP2 replaced the Export-Mailbox command (which allowed you to filter to a specific folder and kill it with the "DeleteContent" argument) with the "Search-Mailbox" command which does not allow folder filtering.

This seems like it would be a no-brainer, but I'm completely stuck. Your help is much appreciated!
