Our company have different internal & public domain (x.org and x.com)
They recently purchased a wildcard certificate for the x.com but unfortunately after setting up the cert the users
received Security Alert 'The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site'
I know for a fact that the issue is that the certificate requires SAN of the exchange server.
Right now, the temporary solution i made is added additional IP to be used by the external exchange services such as owa, activesync and etc. and created a script to delete the secondary IP in DNS.
Is there any other suggestion you can provide which can be a permanent solution. tia
All,
I am trying to setup MFG federation trust for Free/Busy with another company. After I add MFG, I manage the MFG and run through the wizard, but, I get this error:
An error occurred while attempting to provision Exchange to parner STS. An error occurred accesssing windows live. Detailed information: The underlying connection was closed. The connection was closed unexpectedly.
That is all I get. From research, I am able to go to this website on echange server...
https://domains.live.com/service/managedelegation2.asmx
I already have the external DNS TXT record setup.
Autodisocover is completing successfully with warning from MS Connectivity analyzer.
Any ideas??????
We want to change the URL our users are configured with on their mobile devices for ActiveSync. We have about 500 users now using ActiveSync and the URL has been the same for the last year or so. We want to change it to something else.
My concern is of course is that all these phones have a "Server Setting" like activesync.domain.com and now we are changing it to something like mobile.domain.com.
Will each user have to manually update their mobile device with the new setting or will it pick up new settings if I change the Extneral URL setting on the ActiveSync virtual directory in Exchange? I know they can delete and recreate their profile but I was hoping this would be transparent to the user.
I never had to do this before in all the years I have worked with Exchange so I don't know what to expect.
Hi,
We've got a strange problem that's just come up on Exchange.
We've got a number of distribution groups setup, so let's say 'All Staff'. Within All Staff is 'Accounts' - If a user is listed in All Staff as a unique entry and inside Accounts, they user gets two emails when someone emails 'All Staff'
I can't seem to work out why as this has only just started occurring, I've checked the message logs but they don't look like duplicates are being created... One of the IT guys did start playing with the 'Track Duplicates' reg entry a few weeks back but from what I can tell that is still set to 1 (Default value??)
Thanks in advance!
Is there a way to get a report for a specific user that will tell me all the distribution lists and full access rights they have to mailboxes? Maybe a powershell script?

Hi Team
Is there any way to check the functionality of casarray which is enabled by windows NLB or hardware load balance.
it test environment we can disable the network card / shutdown any one the casarray members and can check in OWA link or outlook.
but in production environment, how can we test that casarray is functioning correctly or not
am heard some commands like nslookup or tracert , but am not sure
how can we test the casarray functionality in exchange 2010 ?
Hi,
I am some Event ID 5006 - "Cannot find route to mailbox server" errors in the event log of one of my exchange 2010 servers. The weird thing is that the database it lists does not exist in Exchange. Although when I browse to the databases container
in ADSI edit, I see it there. So I am guessing this is some orphaned object from a database that used to exist? I see all our other production databases which have descriptive names, however this one is just called "Mailbox Database 1857883674",
and like I said I don't see this in the EMC or shell, nor should I since it's not being used as far as I know.
My question is, can I just delete this object in ADSIEdit? I'm pretty sure it's not used in Exchange, unless it's some system database? I'm not sure where it came from, but I'd like to delete it. Just want to make sure I won't break anything by doing so.
Our exchange environment consists of a bunch of Exchange 2010 servers that were migrated from a 2003 environment years ago. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

hello Team ,
Any idea...with below NDR, If I resend the message email go without any issue.
'Gazanfa@abc.com' on 9/22/2014 2:27 PMGroup,
I'm trying to increase the retention days for deleted items on a single mailbox. I run the command from the Technet site and it returns, "WARNING: The command completed successfully but no settings of '<user name>' have been modified." I verified my account has the correct permissions but it doesn't want to work. What am I missing?
Thank you,
Jason
I had a question come up today because an iPhone started sending new messages fromusername@MRS vs displayname@domain.com. We changed his email display name back on the phone and everything was fine until I started digging. On his AD account a Proxy Address I never saw before was listed under MRS and contained theusername@MRS address.
A quick check revealed 37 of 1300+ mailboxes in my environment had this MRS proxy address. I did a bit more research and saw it might be related to mailbox replication service but the affected users are on spread among different databases and none have been moved in over a year.
Can anyone shed some light on what this MRS proxy address is doing and how it appeared? I'd prefer to remove it from the affected accounts.
In an enterprise environment. Issue has been replicated on multiple Windows Terminal Servers, with multiple accounts.
With multiple accounts have recreated the user profiles from scratch, and launched outlook 2010. The profile does not autocreate, it was working in production about a week ago. Windows Updates were applied for December 2014.
Does anyone know if a Local Windows Client side patch would cause Outlook 2010 not to resolve a profile correctly. Could this be the outlook mapi rpc issue that was part of RU8. Have searched several hundred artciles on this on google and twitter in the last weeks time frame and cannot find anywhere online that lists excatly what a user experiences when RU8 fails. Have not heard back from the Exchange administrator if RU8 was deployed. There are also multiple Windows Updates for December 2014 for Office that may have caused the problem.
Might be having exactly the same issue as this guy.

Microsoft did pull/release a version #2 of an exchange patch in December which might be the root cause.
not sure if we are we running “Exchange Server 2010 SP3 Update Rollup 8” –version #1 or version #2

Hello everybody,
for some reasons I had to populate the topology of my network by creating new AD Sites and Subnet. After that, outlook anywhere, active sync, mapi are working fine except the OWA logon for users which are not in the same "domain - site - subnet" as the internet facing CAS.
The message error is the following:
A server configuration change is temporarily preventing access to your account.
Please close all Web browser windows and try again in a few minutes. If the
problem continues, contact your helpdesk.
Let me write down more info:
One Forest, two domains trusted. A and B
Two AD Sites: Site-A, Site-B. Respectively, two subnets. One IPSITE-LINK
In Site-A I have two Exchange Servers. The Domain is A: one with the internet facing CAS and one with the mailboxes
In Site-B (Domain B) one Exchange with the CAS, HUB, Transport and mailbox role
What happen now is that in the outside world if any user from Domain B tries to log onto the OWA they have that error message, on the other hand users in Domain A have no issues at all. From the inside, same but it does works if they use the OWA url of the CAS server in their domain.
In a few words, my Internet Facing CAS and the mailbox server are in SITE-A in the Domain A, the users which are affected by this issue are members of DOMAIN B: there is CAS server on SITE-B, while their mailbox server in SITE-A, Domain A. I hope to have explained myself correctly.
The settings for the OWA are correct.
InternalUrl :
https://CAS01.domain-a.local/owa
ExternalUrl : https://mail.mycompany.com/owa
InternalUrl :
https://CAS01.domain-b.local/owa
ExternalUrl : https://mail.mycompany.com/owa
Ah, the two most important things:
1.Mailboxes for users in Domain-B are hosted onto the Exchange Server in Domain-A
2. Prior to my change, there were no Active Directory Sites and no Subnets defined in the forest.
I may have made a mistake by setting these things up after having implemented Exchange? Also, if I've understood well,Outlook Web App does not provide access to databases on a different site but the problem for me is another one.
Thanks guys
Regards
Our logs have increased from 7mb to 200-500mb per file over night. It started on 11/25 and has not gone down as of yet.
A majority of the logs are for one user on a Mac OS 10.10.1, all of which are for autodiscover 7 to 10 times per second. Is there anything that changed in Yosemite(OS 10.10.1) that would cause these issues in EWS?
I know why I'm getting event ID 675 failure code 0x19 on my 2003 domain controllers.
The problem we're experiencing is certain users have had their accounts locked out when using Activesync to retrieve their e-mail (Exchange 2010) on mobile devices. The passwords are correct and they can get and send e-mail, initially. After a day or two, their accounts get locked out. This happens on both Android and IOS platforms. It is not the device that's causing the problem.
Our account lockout policy is 10 attempts within 30 minutes. The security log shows event ID 675 failure code 0x18 ten times within a 30 minute interval when this happens.
One particular user has been using Activesync successfully for the last couple of years, then this started happening to their account. If I disable Activesync on their Exchange mailbox or remove the Exchange account from their mobile device, account lockouts no longer occur.
Any ideas? As Microsoft are dropping support for TMG, how are people publishing OWA and Activesync connections to a 2010 CAS? Having a CAS in the DMZ is not supported, so are people simply passing traffic straight through to the CAS internally for authentication?
We have Citrix consultants on site and they advise the Netscalers cannot perform activesync authentication, so the traffic is published on the Netscaler for SSL offload, but authentication is handled at the CAS server level.
Under ISA you have publishing rules and the users see a logon page that ISA provides which handles authentication. Under Netscalers, you can have authentication for OWA handled there, but NOT authentication for Activesync and Outlook Anywhere.
Is it industry normal practice to just pass traffic through to the CAS servers when a TMG or ISA box is unavailable?
Exchange 2010 SP3 RU7
I have a weird issue with one mailbox. This user has 2 AD accounts. Say "userprimary" and "usersecondary". This user was set up by another admin that is no longer here. "userprimary" is the actual mailbox account.
User logs on to workstation using "usersecondary" AD credentials and manually sets up outlook 2010 to connect to "userprimary" mailbox. The userprimary mailbox has manage full access permissions assigned to it for the usersecondary account. The userprimary mailbox does NOT have "send as permissions" set up. When the user logs in with "usersecondary" he can access the mailbox fine but can also send email. In theory he shouldn't be able to send as there are no send as permissions set up on the "userprimary" mailbox.
How is this happening and what can I check to resolve this.
I recently switched Authentication modes of OWA to Forms based and now when a user logs in and tries to send an email it takes them back to the authentication page. This happens in all web browsers and only happens once then it works for all other messages until you close the browser and re-open the browser, then it does the same thing. I did not have this issue with Basic Authentication, it is using https and I do have a certificate. If any one has any ideas or has seen this your help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin
