Okay,
Have a VERY strange issue that I've looked high and low for a 'like' issue, and found nothing, so here goes...
Have Exchange server 2010 - MOST users have Office/Outlook 2007 - we're upgrading users to 2013 - so far only two user are upgraded to Office/Outlook 2013 to iron out bugs.
Scenario is - have a shared mailbox that all users access - one user who's upgraded to 2013 is the 'admin' as far as emails and such for this mailbox, creates a folder/sub-folder in her 2013 Outlook - after she creates the folder - ALL the users with 2007 can see/use this folder - she can't - folder 'disappears' from her Outlook folders list ???????
Anyone EVER heard of/seen this before???
Okay,
It seems I'm plagued with the weird and strange issues, so the gist is...
Have a Dell Latitude E6330 with Windows 7 Ult. When I boot up and get to where you login, when I click on ANY of the on desktop 'buttons' (i.e. the 'login' arrow after putting in creds, Switch User, red Shut Down or up arrow for other options, etc.), the button shows as being 'clicked' (the button press/depress reaction shows), but NOTHING happens.
I've uninstalled/re-installed drivers - plugged in an actual mouse - nothing works.
The ONLY workaround that seems to give it a 'kick' is to put in your creds in and click 'Enter', then log out and the buttons work, BUT if you're a different user, where you would usually just click on Switch User, you have to leave the current user password blank and just click Enter so the 'The user name or password is incorrect' error comes up - THEN when you can click on the buttons, they 'work' now?????
So other than re-installing the OS (which we DON'T REALLY want to do, has anyone EVER seen this before???
I have users who want to send text messages from OWA, but they don't have a phone plan.
When you click "new" instead of choosing "message" "meeting request" there is an option for SMS if you have a mobile phone sync'ed to your account.
Is there a way to send SMS messages (click New>SMS) without having a SMS plan tied to the account? I though it used the microsoft server to send the messages, not your phone carrier's?
Thanks!
When visiting our OWA page, users would log-on with their username.
There was many requests to change it to email address, so I changed the authentication type under Server Config>Client Access>OWA site
Previously it was set as "user name only" and I changed it to "User Principal Name (UPN)"
It worked that when you were at the OWA page, it would ask you for your email address...only entering your email address and password did not work. I could not get it to work for any users.
My question. Where is it getting the logon "email address" credentials? Is it getting it from the users reply to email address? It does not seem to be...
Advice would be appreciated.
We have a fairly simple Exchange setup.
2 Edge Transports
3 Hub/CAS
2 Mailbox servers
The mailbox servers are part of a DAG and we can manually fail over the mailboxes, public folders and OAB's between these servers without issue.
However the DAG has one of the CAS servers configured as a Witness Server and as soon as this server goes offline you cannot configure the cluster. What I would like to do, and have tried and failed, is to add an alternate witness server/directory.
I have added this configuration to the DAG, utilising one of the other CAS servers, and while I was watching this server I confirmed the configuration change and watched as the folder was created.
However, when I look inside this folder I can see the FQDN for the DAG but when drilling down further I do not see the GUID that references it (I assume) and I do not see the two files that exist in that folder on the other CAS server.
Simply put, at this time we are happy with manual activation of these services and would like an existing copy of the cluster information on the other server and be able to reboot or power off the original FSW without completely breaking Exchange.
I have read something about DAC but have also read this is not wanted or required with only 2 DAG members.
Any assistance would be greatly received.
Hi,

Hello
We are running an Exchange 2010 SP1 and our Outlook 2010 clients are not able to connect to users' mailboxes. When we open Outlook 2010 client, we keep on getting a pop-up requesting to enter credentials. The same credentials work on OWA but don't seem to get accepted by Outlook 2010 client.
Any ideas?
Hi Team
how to configure tls for inbound emails that also for specific domain. my current setup is 1CAS server and SPAM filter as gateway instead of edge and have third party party SSL certificate.
i tried to to import the certificate in our spam filter server but when i do telnet with mail.mydomain.com(Certificate) not showing STARTTLS. How to fix this issue? Please advise me someone ASAP.

Hi,
When inviting meeting rooms as resources it doesn't contain the actual details that I add in.
For example.
I go into my calendar, create new meeting request and invite the meeting room as resource.
I add the details of what the meeting is about and send the invite.
The invite gets accepted by the calendar but when I open it, there's nothing in the details area?
If I direct book into the calendar by double clicking in the calendar, it contains it but what we want to be able to do is book directly into one calendar and invite another calendar (meeting room).

Let me know if you want any other information
Thanks
Hi,
I am trying to setup a exchange server 2010 in a lab environment to help a friend setup in his office environment. I have been so far successful in installing and configuring the receive connectors and the mails are downloaded. However, the send connector is till a issue.
I have created a dns entry on the local server as well as the external server (justhost.com). When i send the mail, if goes out and does not get delivered or retrns with an error.
I do not have a static ip provided by my ISP and trying to work with pointing the justhost server. Please could some one help with information as to how i can overcome this issue of dynamic ip from isp and correct steps for configuration.
thanks and best regards,#

Testing ...
I added a new email address policy test.com to the email address policy which by default includes all recipient types which also means users with external email addresses and contact with external email addresses. I set this new email address to be the primary email address which it worked as expected and changed the users primary email addresses to test.com.
However I noticed the policy did not touch the mail user(contacts) which have external email addresses though the option is selected on the mail user contacts to "Automatically update email addresses based on email address policy". How come this was not touched/changed even though when I created the new email policy by default it includes all recipient types??? Is it by design???
I don't want the policy to change the mail user contact addresses ...cos I want them to be external.
I also know while creating the new email policy I can target certain recipients. I am just wondering/testing the default and as to how come the mail user contacts were not modified?
Thank u
when i am trying to install exchange 2010 on 2008 r2 member server, readiness check is failing at organisation prerequisites asking to modify AD with setup /prepareAD. when i ran prepareAD i get the following error.
Exchange organization name cannot be specified. There already exists an Exchange organization with name 'XXXX'.
i think this is because of my earlier unsuccessful attempts of installing exchange. can someone help me to get pass this. thanks
can i give the other name? or can i delete the organisation from ADSIedit?? what ever it takes, i need to get exchange up n running by this Sunday. cheers
This Exchange server is in SBS 2011 Standard if that makes a difference. The end users have never deleted mail since day 1. As you might imagine their mailbox database has grown pretty large. I have set them up with a third party archive system and that piece is working quite well. What I want to do now is to delete all messages from the mailbox database that are older than 1 year. I have tried two approaches, both of which do not work.
1. Using the gui I have set the 1 year delete as the only policy. Then set tags for all users with this policy. Lastly run the script start-managedfolderassistant -identity "some valid user" and sat back and waited. Nothing has happened. Only once have I seen anything in Event Viewer that says deleting expired messages.
2. I've searched these forms and the net for scripts that might do the job. I believe I've found a couple of examples that should have worked. I ran into some syntactical issues and clear those up. I ran into permission issues and cleared those up. I now have scripts that produce no error messages and also do not delete anything.
These scripts looked like this:
get-mailbox -identity "some valid user" |search-mailbox -contentfilter (received -gt '02/01/2011') -deleteContent
Also just used search-mailbox by itself with equally unimpressive results. My question(s) is/are: is this even possible? AM I missing anything? Without errors, how to I track this down?
Hi,
Due to the SSL certificate no longer support .local, I installed a new UCC certificates to my exchange 2010 server. After that, I'm getting the following event (about three to four per second). There isn't any reported issue after the certificate replaced. Also, in Process Explorer shown the PID 548 is "isass.exe" running services: CNG Key Isolation, Netlogon and Security Accounts Manager.
I can't find any solution from Google. Please help me if anyone know this. Thank you.

I am a solo practitioner, and would like to use UM to answer calls to my business number, locate me on my cell phone if appropriate, or give a non-business hours message, and take a secure message.
I do not want to use cell phone voice mail due to security concerns. I currently have a number that goes straight to a hippa compliant voice mail service only, but will not follow me on my cell. What is the minimal set up I need to forward calls to UM? Do I actually need a physical phone, or would just a sim chip or some other service work?
good day
i have some problem in how to start the unified message and now i have problem in lync phone i can't see the missed call in the phone.

Hi all
We use Public Folders extensively to share emails relating to specific contracts.
Currently we have a simple structure comprising a main "Contracts" folder and, under this, a folder for each numbered contract.
The problem we now have is that the list of contracts has grown to an unmanageable size, so we would like to reorganise these into folder groups. This will involve creating range folders e. g. C7000 to C7500 under our main top level folder of Contracts. The idea is to then move each individual contract folder into an appropriate range folder.
The question is: If someone is accessing an email in one of the individual contract folders at the time it is moved, will this cause issues/corruption of the folder/message, or at any other level?
This rearrangement will be carried out by a single user of Outlook.
Thanks
Phil
