So we are having issues with certain email servers blocking us due to our internal windows domain name. Long story short, the internal domain was set as "yyellow.com" which we owned until the owners split ways. One owner kept this company, the other owner took and sold off the "yyellow.com" domain. I know we should really be "yyellow.local", we plan on changing over to that in 2013, too mcuh right now.

Our internal name for our exchange server is exchange2010. exchange2010.yyellow.com is the FQDN internally, externally it's "exchange.mydomain.com".

I updated the send receiver to use "exchange.mydomain.com" as the FQDN instead of "exchange2010.yyellow.com" and I have disabled ipv6 via the registry. Now I have 2 Receive headers, one with an ipv4 address and "exchange.mydomain.com" and another that's "exchange2010.yyellow.com" with an ipv6 address.

Is there anything I can do to remove this ipv6 header? or is there something else I can do to replace all "exchange2010.yyellow.com" references in the header?

I have 2010 Exchange server with 1 database and no DAG. I am using Symantec Backup Exec 2010. My Exchange backup settings are for a full backup (truncate logs). For some reason the logs are not being truncated (deleted). I believe this is a relatively simple configuration of my exchange server and the logs should be deleted once my daily backup completes. Can someone tell me where to look for the problem? Most questions include DAG configurations.

Hi. I got 2 mailboxdb servers in a dag (Exchange 2010 SP2 RU3), and a cas,hub,mailbox server who is the witness server, same exchange version. After I upgraded the cas server to SP2 RU3, from SP2, no RU's, I get this error in the event log every 30 seconds:

The Microsoft Exchange Replication service failed to start the TCP listener. Error: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions
at System.Net.Sockets.Socket.DoBind(EndPoint endPointSnapshot, SocketAddress socketAddress)

When I had the server at SP2 only, this was not an issue. Almost everything works, but I am currently moving all users from a mailboxdatabase at the cas server over to the dag servers, and when i check the move logs, there are some entries that I guess relates to that replication error:

We are currently migrating users from one child domain to another due to a geographical location exercise.

I have run into an interesting issue with the ADMT User Migration Wizard whereby the operation fails for any user who commonly uses an Exchange ActiveSync device such as the Nokia smartphones we use.

The ADMT log displays the following message at the end:

ERR2:7422 Failed to move source object 'CN=username'. hr=0x8007208c The operation cannot be performed because child objects exist. This operation can only be performed on a leaf object.

This makes no sense because users are leaf objects, and shouldn't have any child objects.

Looking at this in ADSIEdit, any user who has a ActiveSync device now has a child object - CN=ExchangeActiveSyncDevices.

If the migration wizard is run on a user without this attribute then the operation completes successfully.

Is it safe to remove this object and set the phone up from scratch, or is there an approved method for migrating these accounts with the child object. There doesn't appear to be a method of doing so either from the command line, or from the ADMT itself.

we use a standard script to move database to other server. Now it doesn't work. Last change that we remember was RU5.

maybe since update rollup 5 is the problem.

We have a two node Exchange 2010 DAG configuration, with approx 60 databases split equally over the two nodes during normal operation. On one of the nodes we are receiving repeated errors in the event logs with source MSExchange Common and event ID 106. The text of the alert is generally along the lines of:

Performance counter updating error. Counter name is Number of Content Conversions Done, category name is MSExchange Search Indices. Optional code: 3. Exception: The exception thrown is : System.InvalidOperationException: Custom counters file view is out of memory.

The counter name varies from alert to alert, but they are always to do with the MSExchange Search Indices performance object. When I look in performance monitor, the counters under that object are missing 5 of the databases (i.e. only show 55 of the 60).

I've tried rebuilding the search indexes using the resetsearchindex.ps1 script and I've tried reinstalling the Search Indices performance counters but with no difference. The search indexes themselves are building correctly and work fine, so it simply seems to be a performance counter issue. Exchange is running without a problem as well.

Any advice you can offer would be appreciated.

Unable to configure Outlook Everywhere

I have Exchange 2010, and am trying to configure Outlook Everywhere. The IIS server has a wildcard certificate (*.domain.com).

I found several references that to set this to work, I simply need to run:

Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName msstd:*.domain.com

When I run it - I get:

i have problem with exchange 2003

when i try send mail to spicific domain i got error:

i check few stuff:

1. check in google and they recommend to in relay restricitions under tab relay and

check "allow all computers which succesfulyy authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above". i did it

2.check with my isp provider and they say that in my exchange 2003 problem

3. when i try send mail to this domain from telnet , its working

what can to be a problem in exchange,

i cant send mail to all mailbox on this domain (they can send to me)

Help migrate users mailbox.

I have a new forest on windows server 2008 R2 Sp1 ent edition.

i have a users in both forest with different SSID. I don't wonna use prepare-request, cause it create a new user account. If i try to do new-moverequest, of course i had a error. Can i copy guid and other options to user in new forest without creating a new account?

I have one Exchange 2007 server with a public folder database store. The public folders are working fine on that server.
Now I have added an Exchange 2010 server with mailbox role. I added one mailbox and the mailflow is working between 2010 en 2k7.
Then in create a new public folder datastore on the 2010. When I go to public folder management console in the tools an I click on the default public folders I got the error : Unexpected error (0x79A0AAF3) while executing command 'get-publicfolder -getchildren ....'

I used the get-publicfolder command in the powershell and I got following error : 'An unexpected error has occurred and a Watson dump is being generated: Object reference not set to an instance of an object'

Id I use ExFolders to browse true the public folders on the exch2010, then I can see all folders and if I initiate replacation of a folder it workt.
Still there are folders that won't replicate. I think this must be related to the problem above.

Has somenone a clue why I can't manage the public folders on the exch2010 ?

Install of client access role fails on Windows Server 2008 R2

Trying to install Exchange Server 2010 onto Windows Server 2008 R2 which has also been setup as a domain controller. When attempting to install the Client Access Role, setup fails with the error below.

Does anyone know to a way to get around this?? Please shed any lights I would be appricated.

it happens when i have attached files and the email is sent to more recipients. Also it is strange that some users receive the email

example:
john sends email to 20 users (internal users)
- 18 users receive the email
- 2 users do not receive the email but the server returns this:
