Sender Filtering - blocked email is not deleted from the ISP
Hi, I use the POP3 connector in sbs2011 (exchange 2010) to download e-mails from my isp and as per the technet link below
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/abb738eb-2380-4fde-974a-ebacd6f2516c/sender-filtering-blocked-email-is-not-deleted-from-the-isp?forum=exchange2010
sender filtering is identifying a sender that has been blocked by a recipient and responds with the sender denied code and leaves the e-mail on the server.
The link in the article
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/21ee3a5a-a093-4c46-ab9f-b1c83f2a3d8
appears to be broken, does anyone know what was proposed.
Also, I have tried setting the action to stamp message continue processing but this still is still rejected by the sender filter rather than the content filter so does this actually do anything.
Lastly, I cant find the condition "blocked senders" in the transport rule, does this exist.
Many Thanks
Colin
Outlook 2010 gets disconnected with Exchange 2010
Hi
We are facing a strange issue that some Outlook users are getting disconnected and it reconnects after 1 or 2 hours or after changing the IP of the system. During the Outlook disconnection period we can't even telnet on port 433 to the CAS BLB name or IP (same time we can able to ping CAS name). The security and network team is checking the same, is there any thing to be checked with Exchange servers regarding this issue?
Thanks in Advance

Unable to manage Distribution list membership since moving from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010
Hi,
We have recently started migrating from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. One of our customers used to be able to manage a security group through the outlook address book. This is a mail enabled security group where the customer is on the "Managed by" entry and the "Manager can update membership list" is ticked.
Now that the users mailbox has been migrated to Exchange 2010, if they try and modify the membership using outlook by finding the group in the address book they get the error "changes to the distribution list membership cannot be saved. you do not have sufficient permission to perform this operation on this object".
I have now added a test account to the managed by entry on the security group to test the problem.
I have followed the article http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2009/11/18/3408844.aspx that explains how to use the EMS to give users the right to amend groups that users own. I did not run the script but entered the following commands:
New-ManagementRole -name “MyDistributionGroupsManagement_Test” -parent MyDistributionGroups
Remove-ManagementRoleEntry “MyDistributionGroupsManagement_Test\New-DistributionGroup” -confirm:$false
Remove-ManagementRoleEntry “MyDistributionGroupsManagement_Test\Remove-DistributionGroup” -confirm:$false
New-ManagementRoleAssignment -name “MyDistributionGroupsManagement_Test-Default Role Assignment Pol” -role “MyDistributionGroupsManagement_Test” -policy “Default Role Assignment Policy”
All appears to have worked ok and I have seen no errors while doing this
If I use OWA and then use the ECP, I can now see the "Public groups I own" but no groups are listed.
I have created some new distribution groups in Exchange 2010 (One dist list and one security group) to test and added the test account as an owner of both and a member of both. I still cannot amend the membership using outlook address book and the ECP still shows no groups under "Public Groups I own"
I have seen a number of articles on how to do this and it looks like I am doing everything right and it has worked for plenty of other people. I just don't know what's going wrong.
I would be very grateful if anyone can help.
Matt
Picture not visible in outlook, but visible in EAS
This is a strange one.
When a user send a picture as an MMS to an email account, the message arrives but the picture does not appear in Outlook 2010. The picture however is available in the recipients mail in Active Sync. When the user sends the messages again to himself on the phone, the picture appears in Outlook too.
Exchange 2010 Export Mailbox to PST using only .EDB file
I have Exchange 2010 SP2 Update Rollup 4, SBS 2011 (which is similar to Server 2008 R2). I have recently recovered from a server crash due to a faulty RAID controller and need to recover some e-mail (and possibly contacts) from a couple of mailboxes.
My main concern is that my old .edb file is in a old forest that is different than my current forest. Due to the length of the old internal domain name having more than 15 characters (I previously migrated using a answer file) and my current internal domain name is 15 characters.local they are different.
I also dont have the log files or STM file
With the two internal domain names being different will I still be able to follow this related topic:
If not please let me know which direction I should be going. I know there are third part tools that can get this done but not in the budget right now.

Cross forest calendar sharing with shared namespace
Hi
We have recently bought a company. We are both running Exchange 2010 and we have now setup Forests trust and GalSync. We will also make the exchange organizations share one public namespace that should be used as primary email address on all users. Will it be possible to have calendar sharing between the organizations once we have the same namespace in both organizations? Either by Microsoft Federation Gateway or Availability Service?
Thanks

Mail Control - Transport Rule Predicate "RecipientAddressContainsWords"
"RecipientAddressContainsWords" uses a Words type predicate property. Below is the explanation of the usage and limitation of the Words type property:
The In Exchange 2010, only instances of the word without a prefix or suffix are matched. For example, if you specify the word "contoso", the rule will fire only if an exact match is found. The following variations where the word appears as a suffix, a prefix, or between other characters (other than the space character) aren't considered an exact match:
The property isn't case-sensitive. The asterisk (*) is treated as a literal character, and not used as a wildcard character. This makes me believe that you cannot block domains (or whitelist domains) by using domain.com in the array (or @domain.com), because it will never be an exact match. There will never be spaces on either side of the string. Is this correct? Is there a better method (predicate) to block or whitelist domains? |
Exchange 2010 OWA Options Access Denied
I recently upgraded from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010. The Exchange 2003 servers are off and everything is working great except for one problem. When anyone tries to access to Options in OWA they get the access denied screen that is built into Exchange 2010. It does this to everyone even admins. In the Exchange Management Console everything for OWA is set to Enabled. I did several google searches but nothing is coming up.

Extremely Slow PST Capture Migration to E2010 Archive mailbox
Hi,
We are migrating several thousand user’s PST files into an Exchange 2010 on-premises archive mailboxes. These users have anywhere from 1 – 98 PST files. The amount of data ranges also from minimal to 20 Gb of PST data. We have created a dedicated Exchange 2010 mailbox server to store the archive mailboxes. Everything is local – no O365 yet.
I have run a couple of test migrations and the throughput is extremely slow. It sounds like many others are experiencing the same problem.
The migration using the PST Capture tool is a two-step process:
- Copy the data from the PST source to the PST Capture server.
- Import the data from the PST Capture server into the respective Exchange archive mailbox.
I ran Perfmon during the test and found that the copy of the data from the PST source to the PST Cap server was fast enough, but migration into the mailbox was horribly slow.
Copy of 850 Mb from PST source to PST Capture server
Copy of Import of data from the PST Capture server to the Exchange 2010 archive mailbox
Anyone know why it is taking 35 minutes to import 850 Mb of messages into the Exchange 2010 mailbox.
Is this tool going to work for migrating large numbers of users or large amounts of data into Exchange?
Is there are trick to get it to import faster?
Thanks in advance.

Block exe files within a Zipped attachment on Exchange Server 2010
Hi
I would like to be able to block zipped files as attachments only if they have executables in them. I know it is possible to block Zip file attachments by text patterns but we do not want to block all zip files only the ones that contain executables in them.
Is there a way to carry this out on Exchange 2010 via transport rules.
Thank You
Ashwin
