Just looking for any insight as to how others out there do it in the "real" world.
- 2x CAS/HUB combined servers with one acting as FSW
- 2x MBX servers in a DAG
Now, if one of the DAG members and the FSW server are rebooted, the whole cluster will go down due to one node remaining. I cannot see a way to get an alternate witness share to be activated automatically? Is it possible to do this? That way, if the primary FSW is not available, the remaining nodes could check the alternate share instead?
I am assuming that because having two FSW and two nodes would equal 4 in total, this is not possible and you need to manually run the command to activate the alternate share?
Out of interest, does activating the alternate share automatically bring the cluster to life if you lose one mailbox server and the FSW server? Or do you need to run the powershell command to activate the alternate FSW and then do some wizardry to bring the cluster online with the last node?
