We are running Exchange 2007 and 2010 in our environment. We have an application that needs to connect to a Shared Mailbox via MAPI
to read data.
Exchange 2007 is CCR environment.
In 2007, this was simple, the application was configured to point to the mailbox server holding the mailbox.
If we move the mailbox to 2010, I know we should connect to the CAS array, however we wanted to know what would happen if we kept the configuration pointing to the mailbox (but changed it to reflect the new mailbox server holding the database). Will this still work as long as the mailbox is on that server? I've read that MAPI connections SHOULD go through the CAS layer, but not sure if the mailbox server will still accept MAPI connections from clients? And, if not, what would the response be?
