Mailbox failover to another server in DAG environment

Hi All,

My client has deploy three new Exchange servers in two sites - 2 in primary site and 1 in secondary site. They held all Exchange server load and created in the same DAG group.

I found the mailbox database failover to another server in the same site (I have suspend activation of mailbox database in secondary site.). During the failover time, I confirm there do not have any configuration / network change in both Exchange and FWS. Do you have any idea on this?

Background:

  • New deployed Exchange (when perpare forest, we found that there are Exchange 2003 attribute under ADSI, but from client, they DID not deploy Exchange 2003 before. And we manually delete the Exchange 2003 Attribute and continue the deployment)
  • Primary site - 2 Exchange servers with all roles installed, CAS Array is set, F5 BIG-IP load balancer is used for CAS Array
  • Secondary site - 1 Exchange server with all roles installed, CAS Array is set, F5 BIG-IP load balancer is used for CAS Array
  • DAG - DAG group contain all Exchange servers in 2 sites, all mailbox database is active in 1 server in Primary site, replication network is the same as MAPI network
  • ADPermissionSplit is set when prepare AD
  • IPv4, IPv6 addresses are set in Exchange servers - but IPv6 is removed from replication network because client is not implemented for IPv6 for AD / DNS / network devices

Problem details:

  • Event ID 1177, 1135 are logged in Micsofot Exchange with Database Availability Group Events
  • Test-ReplicaitonHealth - All passed
