Exchange and Domain Controllers

Per the Exchange Minimum System Requirements at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996719(EXCHG.140).aspx

Global Catalog:  In each Active Directory site where you plan to install Exchange 2010, you must have at least one global catalog server

Domain Controller:  In each Active Directory site where you plan to install Exchange 2010, you must have at least one writeable domain controller

I was hoping to find a definitive answer to the following:

You need only one GC and writable DC per site.  However, what if your exchange server is in "company.com" and your GC/DC is in a child domain "child.company.com"?  The minimum requirement is per site, but it does not specify that it must be per domain as the exchange 2010 server.

The behavior I have been noticing is that for certain commands in the shell like "get-mailbox" I must use Set-AdserverSettings and set the -ViewEntireForest $True in order to see all Mailboxes.

My main concern is that now we are configuring BES and it seems to be having issues finding necessary AD objects as well.

Is there a way to force exchange to view the entire forest in all applications like powershell and make that permanent?  Could this behavior he causing issues with other applications as well such as BES?

Thanks in advance for your input.
