We have been renamed a couple of times. Our Exchange organisation is upgraded from 5.5 to 2003 to 2010. Currently we have 1 front end 2003 which everything goes out of and in through, 2 2003 mailbox servers, 2 exchange 2010 mailbox servers, 1 UM and 2 CAS servers. All Exchange software is Enterprise level.
The organisation is called something quite different to what we are called now. Also one of the old domains gets mentioned during messageID (8725398476529837654987236@olddomain.com for example)
I noticed that the domain that is mentioned is the default domain for the organisation.
What I would like to know is: what would the impact be on changing the default domain to a more fitting one and what would the impact be on changing the organisation name?
