We were alerted to an issue where one of our consultants who e-mails with Microsoft on a regular basis didn't receive an e-mail that was sent on the 9th. The consultant resent the e-mail on the 10th, HOWEVER, our Exchange Server has no record of it despite the fact that our consultant received the second e-mail!
Let me explain this another way:
- E-mail 1 never came.
- E-mail 2 resends e-mail 1.
- E-mail 2 received but neither our spam firewall nor the Exchange server has record of it.
Looking at the headers for E-mail 2 shows no "Received:" lines for our Exchange server or the Spam Firewall, But the e-mail was received by the consultant regardless?
Is there a way someone can send an e-mail and instruct the mail server not to record that it received it?
