Removal of Exchange 2010 from Active Directory

We recently outsourced our mail services (Exchange 2010), migrated all accounts to a different domain.  Now I need to re-purpose our old Exchange servers, since we no longer need them.  But* we still have our Active Directory domain.  I need to uninstall Microsoft Exchange 2010 from our servers.  We running a clustered environment (DAG).  Running the uninstall from the Control Panel gives an error that we need to remove the databases.  It provides us with several commands to get this done.  But I am worried that this will remove the Windows account for Active Directory as well.  I have not be able to find any documentation regarding this.  Does anyone know if  removing the databases, will also delete the Windows Account?  I know if you go into EMC - and do a remove account deletes both Exchange and Windows account.  We definitely need our AD accounts, and just looking to remove Exchange from our AD.   Anyone experienced this that provide links to "safely removing Exchange while maintaining our Active Directory Windows user accounts"
