OWA Search Issue

The data center with the exchange server had a power issue and the exchange server VMs were shut down improperly.  Since then users have not been able to search from OWA.  This same issue is actually occurring on a completely separate exchange/AD environment with a similar architecture.   The error is as follows.

Content Indexing function 'CISearch::EcGetRowsetAndAccessor' received an unusual and unexpected error code from MSSearch.  Mailbox Database: TSN  Error Code: 0x80043629

We are on Exchange 2010 SP2.   For this environment, there is a server with the CAS and Hub Transport roles, and two database servers, one of which is not in use.  This was set up before my time here so I'm not sure what the intention was behind the second database server.

I've tried removing the search index by running the command: .\ResetSearchIndex.ps1 -force <dbname>.  I've also tried running the symbolic links fix for SP1 prior to doing this since the error code is the same for that issue.  I've also tried restarting the Exchange Search Service and have verified that all Exchange and MS Search Services were started.  The issue occurs from all of the databases.

I found a fix which included running Setup.com /PrepareSchema and Setup.com /PrepareAD, but I'm unsure of why that would work or if this would be advisable.
