Hello experts,
I have a specific question about a datacenter switchover in our exchange environment.
Let me first explain our setup and design.
First of all, we have 2 datacenters and between them our own fiber connection.
Although we have 2 datacenters, we only have 1 Active directory site.
In datacenter 1, we have MBO1 and MBO2
further, we also have CAS/HUB1, which is our witness server.
So in principle you could see Datacenter 1 as primary.
In datacenter 2, we have MBO3 and MBO4 and also CAS/HUB2 (which doesn't have a roll in the DAG).
We have set up a casarray between CASHUB1 and CASHUB2.
Maybe also important, I haven't set DAC mode yet.
Now here comes my question :
Should we have a complete failure of our Datacenter1, this would mean that the DAG loses quorum because 3 of 5 votes are lost.
This means that potential maildatabases are also dismounted on MBO3 and 4 in datacenter 2.
I know that I should perform a datacenter switchover to Datacenter 2.
There is a lot of info about a switchover between 2 datacenters, but they all assume you have 2 AD sites.
In our scenario we only have 1, so I am not sure what the exact procedure should be.
Is it also benificial to enable DAC mode, i believe so...
So if you can help me with this, it would be highly appreciated!
