Here is my dilemma. I have a site using a fortigate 60 firewall. Mail is forwarded through ISP smtp servers to the exchange server. On two separate occassions i have replaced the firewall, once with an identical hardware device, identical software configuration, and it stops receiving mail at the exchange server. Sending is fine. There are no errors bouncing back to the senders or the at the isp, it just never arrives. If i bring the original device back online mail starts flowing again, including the messages that were unable to deliver.
Does the exchange server bind the connectors in any way to the mac address of the source of its messages, in this case the inbound port mac address of the firewall. Would i need to reboot the server, or restart the services under these circumstances? I am opening a ticket with fortigate in the morning, however this seems like it might be an exchange issue.
