We currently have an AD 2003 domain with Exchange server 2010.
One empty forest root.
One child domain with the exchange server in the child domain
We are transitioning to AD2008R2
The plan is do the adprep, dcpromo a 2008 server, transfer FSMOs and services, and retire the 2003 DCs.
All servers are virtual so not worried about hardware requirements.
Unfortunately we dont have a test environment but is there anything I should be worried about as far as exchange is concerned? All our DCs are GCs. I think we have to point Exchange to use a specific DC and will have to change that before retiring the old ones.
I am a little nervous about this but more for Group Policy etc than breaking Exchange. What SHOULD I be worried about.
