Outlook prompting for credentials every time it is started

Hi,

Have checked several other posts but non are similar to my problem.

I have a 2008r2 domain for which I have just installed Exchange. The main part of exchange is in its own VM but the client access is on Web server which is also the PDC, this is legacy from a single server environment, will look at changing this later.

Anyway, initially I could use OWA fine but starting outlook on an RDP server would not work, eventually found this to be the pointing of the database to the correct client access server.

So now outlook starts fine but it prompts for credentials. I think I have isolated the problem to the account name it is trying to log on as.

We have a rather strange setup in that the the public address is not the same as the domain

Internal domain is: school.local

EMail Address is: me@school.other.edu.au

school.other.edu.au is not hosted by us and it forwards mail via internal.school.other.edu.au

Internal exchange accepts mail on internal.school.other.edu.au and school.other.edu.au

Reply address is set to me@school.other.edu.au.

Now the proble seems to be that the default setup of outlook 2010 is to try to log on to me@school.other.edu.au but this does not work. If I simply type me in the mailbox and my password in the password box then it logs on fine. If I tell it to save the credentials it does not.

The final curiosity is that if you do not respond the the credentials prompt, after about 30 seconds it dissapears and you are logged on to exchange. If you cancel the credentials prompt them it is not connected "Password Required"

Any help would be appreciated.
