We are having problems with Outlook Anywhere on our EX2010 setup, we have two CAS servers in an array behind a hardware loadbalancer. The online exchange connectivity test and rpcping are both failing on the tests for port 6001, 6002 and 6004.
I’ve tried all the basic stuff,
OA is enabled on both CAS’s.
The RPC Client Access service is running on all the MB servers.
The ‘ValidPorts_AutoConfig_Exchange’ registry key has all our MBX servers in it.
All our other protocols (MAPI, POP, IMAP) are all workign fine through the LB.
What I would like to know is in an environment with a CAS Arrary and a hardware LB, what is the Outlook Anywhere path for this traffic, does the LB need to listen on port 6001, 6002, 6004.
A request comes with the mailbox server (CAS Array) and the RPC proxy (OWA server). This traffic goes through the LB and hits one of the CAS’s on port 443. Does the rpc proxy then try to contact the MBX (CAS array) on 6001 etc, meaning the traffic will go back through the LB for a second time.?
