At the moment i have setup email forwarding to an external gmail account. This is all working fine.

What i want to know is it possible that emails are forwarded from my exchange account? With my current forwarding setting. What is happening is that the emails are forwarded from the original senders email account. This makes it impossible to setup email filters / rules from with in gmail. 

If the forwarding was sent via my exchange account i could set up a filter no problem.

I am running Exchange 2010 SP2.  I am migrating all Exchange 2010 mailboxes from an older Exchange 2010 mailbox server to a newer Exchange 2010 Server and all have been migrated except for one mailbox.  The local mailbox move request for this one mailbox continually fails.  I ran a New-MailboxRepairRequest and it did not detect any errors.  The local mailbox request job reports the following errors.  Any ideas?

hi

my database copies are in failed and suspended state after moving all mailboxes from 2003 to 2010, but some are healthy.

when i right on the failed copies and click on resume mailbox database copy.

i got this error display

The database copy was automatically suspended due to failure item processing. At '7/5/2010 9:01:14 AM' the copy of database 'ITMDB' on this server wasn't able to operate because the number of mailbox database copies on this server exceeds the supported limit. Recovery was not attempted.

please advise, any idea

are you sure you want to resume replication.

can i remove the failed copy and recreate the copies?

I have 4 Exchange 2010 server.  Two mailbox and two CAS. 

Here is my scenario:  when i have all my stores and databases on mailbox server 1 so i can reboot mailbox server 2, except one Public Folder database, access from Outlook to Exchange is disconnected.  Why is this?  My mail store and database are mounted on the server that is up and running.  Any one that can shed light on this would be greatly appreciated.

GAL is not updating unless updated manually, I add new users, hide an inactive user from exchange address lists, or modify (change username for user) wait 24 hrs and longer and address book in all modes, OWA, cached/uncached does not reflect the changes. If I manually do the following procedure the gal updates, but next time I make a change in the GAL same problem happens.

step 1: Update the global address list
setp 2: run the following command in EMS->  get-mailbox | set-mailbox -applymandatoryproperties
step 3: restart the system attendant service
step 4: Update the offline address Book
step 5: restart the exchange file distribution service
step 6: download offline address book without "download changes since last send/receive"

This used to work correctly and the only thing I can think of that may be the cause is I setup HTTP Redirect at one point to troubleshoot something and then unsetup the redirect and deleted the web.config the http redirect created.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have updated the DNS records as well on my domain registrar. I can access OWA from outside my companies network and is able to send and receive emails for my domain but unable to send or receive emails to any other domain. I have checked the delivery report and it says that the message has been queued on the server. 

I also did nslookup. Results mentioned below:

I have a specific user who cannot manage groups he owns.  Other users can manage these groups.  When logged in via OWA 2010 under show all options this user does not have the option for "Groups".  It is missing from the list.

This user is a domain admin. 

Any help with this would be appreciated.

User1 replied to an email from User2, and the reply is in User1's Sent Items with a sent date/time of 9/15/2014 11:20 am. However, the message did not arrive and does not appear in the message tracking logs. There was no NDR.

These two users email each other regularly. User1 was able to forward her previous email in the Sent Items to User2 and that went through fine.

2 questions:

1. At what point in the message pickup/delivery process could an email be saved in the Sent Items but never appear in the message tracking logs?
2. Is there another log that would show any more data?

Not sure if this is by design. I set up a distribution group and granted a user send as right via

I can confirm that the settings took effect because when I run it again, I get

WARNING: The appropriate access control entry is already present on the object

I tested sending as via OWA and it worked, but when I try the same thing using the same account set up over IMAP in Outlook I get an instant bounce:

550 5.7.1 Client does not have permissions to send on behalf of the from address

The difference is, over IMAP, Outlook doesn't pick up the exchange group from the address book so I simply type in the address I want to send as. In OWA, I select the distribution group from the address book.

I made sure that Require that all senders are authenticated is unchecked under Message deliver restrictions for the distribution group.

So finally, the question: How can I send mail as an address assigned to a distribution group over IMAP by just typing the address in the from field?

I've been battling with this for a while now so I welcome any suggestions!

I worked with TechNet Professional support to replace an Exchange server. I created a new email database server and a new cas/hub server. A new naming convention meant that the old server (single server with mailbox, cas, and hub roles) had a different name than the new client access server.

The support professional helped me move the exchange database from the old server to the new one including all ADSIEdit changes and making sure that the OAB would point correctly. Internal mail works fine...

Connecting with Outlook Anywhere is a problem, though. I get multiple dialog boxes during startup about the security certificate, and if I check the account settings, it still shows the old server name. I can neither edit this nor delete it and then input the correct (new) server name.

What do I do? Do I have to just delete the old account (along with it's settings and preferences) and then use autodiscover again?

When I test the email autoconfiguration, in the results under Protocol: Exchange RPC I get the Server: being the FQDN of the old server name.

Note that the old Exchange server has been turned off by request of the TechNet Professional support people to make sure that mail flow is working properly with the changes made. Also, the old server will be decommisioned within a few days after making that assessment...

Any idea...with below NDR, If I resend the message email go without any issue.

We have a mix of Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010 clients in our organization.

Users with an outlook 2010 client are having issues with a number (not all) of our distribution lists.

Issues: When selecting a distribution list in the new message 'to' fiedl, a 'message tip' appears with the name of the DL and 'contains xx recipients'.

However, when attempting to expand the DL (selecting the + sign) the following prompt appears "Cannot perfrom the requested operation. The command selected is not valid for this recipient. The operation failed"

When selecting the DL through the outlook address book the memberlist is empty and has a mail tip "unable to connect to retrieve additional data".

The DL's were all created in a 2003 environment.

We are currently setting up a 2010 environment, and all DL's were created prior to any schema updates etc.

Of note, users experience the issue, but access the list through OWA don't have the issue.

We have a medical firm with Exchange 2010 running. They want a scheduling calendar that can be edited by any of the scheduling coordinators and some doctors. But they also need to see it on their mobile ios and android devices. They have about 75 users that would need at least read access to the calendar.

What is the "best practice" for setting up a group calendar like this and make it visible to mobile devices?

I have a test lab setup with Exchange 2010 that had been working, but my exchange server crashed and was corrupted. I have rebuilt the system, but when I install exchange it tells me that the Administrator account mailbox is in and unstable state and that the database is missing. I had to delete the discovery search and federated mailboxes to get the exchange to install and I have found how to recreate them as the arbitration mailboxes, but the Administrator mailbox is not showing up in my exchange server. When I go to add new mailboxes and choose existing users, nothing shows up in the users list.

How can I get the admin mailbox and the discovery search mailbox to show up in the console?  I have 2 other users defined in AD and they are not showing up in the list to add mailboxes for them either.

Trying to remove full access permission for a user from a specific mailbox outputs the error. Our setup is Exchange 2010. 

Note that send as permission was removed successfully from the mailbox. Additionally i have tried to remove it with sid etc but no luck.Thanks,

I'm trying to query Exchange 2010 from a VM on the same network and get-mailbox works okay so it can see it fine, but I've written a script using get-messagetrackinglog. When I run the script manually from Exchange Management Shell it runs fine but I need a batch file to launch it on startup. The code I'm running as a debugging test is:

$start = get-date
$end = (get-date).adddays(-30)
Get-MessageTrackingLog -Start $start -End $end -Event RECIEVE -Recipients "mymailbox@mycompany.com" -Server MyServer

If I try to run the command I get the following error:

The search time range was incorrectly specified. The End and Start parameter values can't be the same.

start is 09/23/2014 10:45:20
end is 08/24/2014 10:24:20

The variables for the date parameters are clearly not the same and I'm in the UK but the dates are in US format (apparently this is required). Any ideas?

I have used Outlook for email for ten years, but have suddenly found the following message whenever I click to open Outlook: "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. This file C:\Users\Geoff\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst is not a personal folders file".

I am a very computer-illiterate pensioner and am completely stumped by this. Fortunately I can access e-mals via my iPad Mini, but cannot work out how to print from it as yet.

Has anyone got some SIMPLE explanation of what I should do, please!!!
