We've been looking into our Exchange 2010 configuration to troubleshoot some delivery problems. Something we recently found is that both of our hub servers have different transport agents installed.
Server 1 has:
Identity
Enabled Priority
--------
------- --------
Connection Filtering Agent True 1
Transport Rule Agent True
2
Text Messaging Routing Agent True 3
Text Messaging Delivery Agent True 4
FSE Routing Agent True
5
Sender Id Agent True
6
Sender Filter Agent True
7
Recipient Filter Agent True
8
Server 2 has:
Identity
Enabled Priority
--------
------- --------
Transport Rule Agent True
1
Text Messaging Routing Agent True 2
Text Messaging Delivery Agent True 3
FSE Routing Agent True
4
Should both hub servers have the same exactly transport agents installed? If so, should I run the script ReinstallDefaultTransportAgents.PS1 on server 2? Also I can't seem to find description of what each agent is and does. I'd like to make sure that there aren't any unnecessary ones enabled. Does anyone know of a write-up about the transport agents?
Hello,
I am running Windows 2012r2 Server with Exchange 2010sp1, 1 forest and 6 mailboxes. So this is not a heavy load for Exchange 2010sp1 to handle. The problem is the Windows 2012r2 server is also used as a file storage server. The problem is the Exchange 2010sp1 is using most of the 16GB of ram available and slowing down the server. Is it possible to limit the Exchange 2010sp1 store.exe to use less memory and if so what are the steps in Windows 2012r2 to complete this task.
I have read that it can be done through ADSI Edit. But the steps they explain are not for Windows 2012r2 and do not match.
Thank You,
Stan

Good Day ,
when I installed Exchange 2010 it created a new administrative group in Exchange 2003 organisation (The FYDIBO). It did this to connect to the existing organisation, now I need to remove them.
So for correct way I should delete the two mentioned with arrow and the other I don't touche ?

Would someone please tell me how to go about whitelisting a domain in Exchange 2010 that has the form as follows:
abc.def.domainname.com
where I want to accept anything prior to domainname.com
For example I want to use a wildcard to accept any of the following using one entry in the whitelist if possible
abc.def.domainname.com
fed.cba.domainname.com
123xyz.domainname.com
domainname.com
Thank you
Howard
This should be straightforward, but I can't seem to get it right.
I want to remove ExternalAccount permissions on a specific mailbox. Here's the command I use to confirm that the permission is present:
Get-MailboxPermission user1 -domaincontroller dc1.contoso.com | ? {$_.accessrights -like "*ExternalAccount*" }
Identity User AccessRights
IsInherited Deny
-------- ---- ------------
----------- ----
contoso.com/Use... Contoso\User1 {FullAccess, ExternalAccount, ReadPermission}
False False
All good so far. Now I just want to remove the ExternalAccount permission assigned to Contoso\User1. Here's the command:
Remove-MailboxPermission -Identity User1 -User "Contoso\User1" -AccessRights ExternalAccount -domaincontroller dc1.contoso.com
The above command generates the following error:
Remove-MailboxPermission : Can't remove the access control entry on the object "CN=User1,OU=User Objects,DC=contoso,DC=com" f
or account "Contoso\User1" because the ACE doesn't exist on the object.

Any thoughts on this?

Hi all,
Is it posible to convert an Outlook 2011 Export(*.OLM).
To a Windows Outlook/Exchange supported file.
I need to export a Calendar from a Entourage pop account.
to a Exchange 2010, Outlook 2011 config. The Agenda needs to be available in the Exchange web interface.
So I need to import it to exchange.
I need help! pleasee!!!!!
Hi,
I post this in total desperation. I've spent most of today testing different options.
All I want to do is export a mailbox folder, between 2 dates. Seems simple.
New-MailboxExportRequest -ContentFilter {(Received -gt '08/26/214 00:00') -and (Received -lt '08/28/2014 23:59')} -Mailbox "hello" -IncludeFolders "AutoResponse" -FilePath \\servername\Email\Folder.pst
If I run the command without the content filter it works, soon as I add it, it fails "could not be converted to type System.DateTime."
Ive searched the forums/blogs etc all agree that there is an issue but none have sorted it for me.
Some say that it was resolved in SP2, but I am on SP3 rollup6....
Any ideas would be great as I'm lost.
thanks
Well, I got into work this morning and my Exchange server wasn't responding. Checked the drive space, and there was only 1 Gig open. Unfortunately, this drive has nothing on it but the mailbox datatbase, so to get some space back, I did a compress on the drive (yeah, I know that's not a good idea from a performance standpoint, but I didn't have good options).
Anyway, after the compress finished, now the Information Store service doesn't want to start. It errors out with a 4015. All the other necessary services started OK.
Any ideas?
Thanks -- Ralph
Exchange 2010 SP2.
I created a dynamic distribution group via the EMC. We have populated AD with ExtenstionAttribute1 and ExtensionAttribute2. I have created the ddg with custom attribute1 value = employee. What I need to do now is populate custom attribute
2 = 00-0001, 00-0002, and so on. There are about 300 of these numbers I need to add. I have them in a text file or csv file. Instead of adding them one by one in the EMC, is there a way to import them via powershell to the existing ddg?
The ddg is called All Management Employees.
Hi All,
Below is an AD and Server related post that I had submitted last week. While I did receive valid responses for the post, I was advised to check with the Exchange forums for the Exchange related question inbold. All responses are welcomed, thank you!

Hi All,
I am hoping that someone could perhaps provide some insight on this topic as I apparently can't seem to google the best answer.
I have recently acquired an AD domain that is running on a 2003 domain controller. I have been tasked with upgrading our existing domain structure with 2012 R2 domain controllers for our main office and remote offices.
The domain name is company.mynetwork.com, and it is the default first site name. We have multiple offices throughout the US with their own domain controllers (i.e. FL.mynetwork.com, NY.mynetwork.com, DC.mynetwork.com, etc.).
Our main office, and default first site has one domain controller (mynetdc1) running Server 2003 R2. It is also our only DNS server for the main office. It also has an additional domain controller called mynetmaster3 which is running Server 2003.
Both mynetdc1 & mynetmaster3 NTDS settings show them as global catalogs under AD Sites & Services. Both servers are also in the AD Domain Controllers OU, along with all of the other satellite office domain controllers.
Additionally, our main office is running Exchange 2010 with the latest service pack. My questions are:
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hello,
Recently I've been working with the ContentFilter switch with the New-MailboxExportRequest command (part of Exchange Management Shell). The command seems to work on a very basic level and even properly if the filter user the "All" parameter. The problem comes in when using either "To" or "Sender" parameters within the ContentFilter where everything ends up getting excluded. I've seem several people refer to this issue, but never a solution. Is this a bug in Exchange 2010 SP3?
Just for reference, my syntax is:
New-MailboxExportRequest -Mailbox 'somebody@somewhere.com' -ContentFilter {Sender -eq 'someoneelse@somewhere.com'} -FilePath 'Valid UNC Path'
Most people seem to suggest using -like instead of -eq, but that doesn't seem to work and according to MS at http://technet.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/ff601762%28v=exchg.141%29.aspx , this is not a valid operator for 'To' and 'Sender'.
Does anyone know of any workarounds to this that would get the same results?
Thanks.
At some point after applying a version upgrade we went from showing only a few Enterprise cals were needed to now showing all clients need enterprise CAL's.
Is there a check that can be ran to see what system setting changed causing this count change. I have ran across a couple of postings indicating that even if not in use defined personal tags may cause issues but would if at all possible see what may have triggered the change.
