I have an old domain. Contoso.local with an exchange 2010 box on it, "EX1". All servers are 2008R2.

I have a new domain. Mydomain.com with an Exchange 2010, "EX2"   All servers are 2012

My old domain has a mail store over 300gb and over 200 users

In order to move the mailboxes I need to be able to do it over time so as not to bring everything down for 3 days while mailboxes move.

What would option be to get the mailboxes moved without interrupting mail service.

Hi,

We are looking for a solution for email attachment to be sent as link.

We have evaluated few products but issue 1 issue which i found is that if i send email(replaced attachment with link).

Then same email will be journalled (archived) without attachment.

Is there any product which will first let the email to be journalled and then replace email attachment with link.

Failing to install Rollup updates on Exchange 2010

Hi

I'm hoping someone can help me here?

We are currently running Exchange 2010 SP3 14.03.0123.003 on a Windows Server 2012.

I'm tried applying the update Rollup 10 via Windows Update, in which it failed.

I then downloaded and manually ran Exchange2010-KB3049853-x64-en in which it failed.

" Microsoft Exchange Server - Update 'Update Rollup 5-v2 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 2 (KB2785908) 14.2.328.10' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Windows Installer can create logs to help troubleshoot issues with installing software packages"

I then ran it against CMD with Admin rights and got the same error. I have since ran it using the Exchange2007-KB3049853-x64-EN.msp /lxv c:\Rollup.log

 I get the following

Meeting Request Outlook 2010 says 'Received for Joe Bloggs'

Hello

I am running Exchange 2010 with Outlook 2010 on the clients.  There are a couple of users that are receiving two meeting request - one destined for them and the other one that says 'Received for Joe Bloggs'.  I have checked the delegate settings for both Joe Bloggs and the receiver but I cannot find where this setting is coming from.

Any ideas?

Deleted Items folder size - different languages?

$

Hi there,

I'm having some troubles retrieving all of the Deleted Items folder sizes in the environment when the mailbox is in a different language (?). I thought that standard folders such as Deleted Items would appear in the language the user or the admin is working on?

I have no problems in gathering this info for English users with this (based on a txt file as per my needs):

Get-Content C:\temp\mailboxes.txt | ForEach-Object {Get-MailboxFolderStatistics -identity $_ | where {$_.Name -eq "Deleted Items"} | Select-Object FolderSize} | Export-csv C:\temp\deleteditemsreport.csv

I made a script for now to skip the other languages (see here for more details):
http://www.itdroplets.com/get-exchange-mailbox-deleted-items-folder-size/

Now, my question is, is this normal? Is there a better way to go around this problem and get the Deleted Items folder size? Note that I'm after that specific folder as I've noticed that loads of users are currently forgetting to delete the content of this folder and I'd like to start shrinking those mailboxes before performing maintenance (meant to recover the whitespace).
For instance, it seems that in Spanish, Deleted Items, is Correos Eliminados.. So I added that in my query, but I'd avoid that if possible!

Thanks!

Switched IT companies - can't get emails! HELP!

Please understand, the following is the problem as I understand it...hopefully someone can help....

Our company recently switched to a new IT company. The old IT company hosted our website and email, and were also adminstrators for our exchange server. Unbeknownst to us, they are still hosting our website and emails...

Last week, our router to the server went bad and had to be replaced...since then, we've been unable to receive any emails!

The old IT company has not responded to multiple requests for the administrator user name & passwords to the exchange management console? I know we should have this info, but we don't.

The new IT company needs that info in order to set up new website and email hosting?

What can we do? Is there a way to circumvent the old IT co and reset passwords?

Exchange Server 2010 SP1 and Outlook 2016 (Windows)

Hi,

We have an Exchange Server running SP1 Hosted Mode. When trying to connect to a mailbox using Outlook 2016 on Windows, it just hangs at the autodiscover stage. As there is no longer a way to enter details manually, we are forced to use this method. I have done some searching around online, but can only find references to Outlook 2016 for Mac, which state that the minimum requirement is SP2 of Exchange Server 2010. What I would like to know is if this is also the case for Outlook 2016 for Windows, or whether it is a specific issue with our environment. Obviously if this is an issue where SP2 is the minimum, this leaves us at an impasse with Outlook 2016, and we will have to accelerate our project to deliver a newer Exchange offering. By the way, have checked Exchange Connectivity Analyzer and autodiscover is fine, also works a treat with Outlook 2013 and 2010.

Thanks

Does renewing of certificates need downtime?

Hi!

I'm in the process of a Exchange 2010 to 2013 migration and need to renew the IIS certificates of all servers. There's two 2013 servers that proxying to two 2010 servers. I can set 2013 servers in maintenance window easily in the load balancer and then renew the certificates so its not a problem on 2013.

The problem is my 2010 servers, how do I know which 2010 server that 2013 will proxy to? Is it a problem? Can I safely renew the certificates without any downtime? When I renewed on 2013 it seemed to go pretty fast without any interruptions.

Any thoughts?

Hi All,

I have Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP1 (14.1.218.15) installed. I have to renew certificate for CAS.

I want to create request with hash algorithm SHA 256 but I cannot find this setting anywhere during enrolment procedure.

Does this version of exchange supports SHA 256? it is possible to create csr with sha256?

Service Pack/Rollup help

I just inherited an Exchange 2010 server that hasn't been updated for quite some time.  It's currently on build 14.01.0355.002 which looks like it's Update Rollup 6 (UR6) for Exchange Server 2010 SP1.  I would like to bring it up to the latest version so that I can get webmail working with all the browsers again.  It seems that when Chrome killedNPAPI plugins Exchange OWA lost some features such as using attachments and a few other things, I heard that if you install all of the updates, it starts working again. When you look at the available downloads, you have critical update, service packs, rollups as well as .NET and several other componets.

The concern that I have had in the past is whenever I just use Windows Update to do everything this large, many updates fail, services don't start and it's a giant pain to try and get everything working again.  So I'm just trying to figure out what is the order to install all of these things?

I plan on running as thorough backup before doing this anyway, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Mike

Issue with Microsoft Exchange VSS writers timing out and causing exchange backups to fail

Hi,

I am having an issue with exchange writers on an SBS2011 server. We use a cloud backup solution and every time we run the back the system state and files and folders job completes fine, but we have a job to backup exchange and this is failing as the VSS writer for Microsoft Exchange keeps timing out. I have spoke with the Vendor of the backup software and they are saying that this is a microsoft issue as it is the exchange writers that are timing out.

The result of VSSadmin List Writers shows the following for Microsoft Exchange Writer:

Writer name: 'Microsoft Exchange Writer'
   Writer Id: {76fe1ac4-15f7-4bcd-987e-8e1acb462fb7}
   Writer Instance Id: {2762a818-c18e-421c-879e-77c38bff86de}
   State: [9] Failed
   Last error: Timed out

This back up has been failing for quite some time and would really appreciate any insight on what could be causing the vss writers to time out. If I restart the information store service the writer will return stable and no error, the backup then may succeed once, but most times fails again.

Thank you.

J

Outlook 2010 Allow this website to configure Users@domain.com server settings

When this popup occurs in a users outlook the user that is showing up in user@domain.com is not the user thats logged into the machine or outlook. The user that is popping up as well have never logged into the machine either. User A says this happens daily and its usually a different name other than his. Any idea why this is happening. The user that is greyed out isnt the user that is logged into outlook or the machine and never has been on this machine.

TLS/SSL Server Supports SSL Version 3 vulnerability on Exchange Server 2010 SP3

We are trying to reimediate some issues for PCI with our CAS/MBX server (Exchange 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2008 r2).  The vulnerability that we need to plug is:  TLS/SSL Server Supports SSL Version3.  The solution that I have seen for this is to turn off SSLv3 from registry, but will this affect on webmail or any mobile devices from receiving mail or otherwise working properly? In our environment we are using MS Outlook 2010/2013 STD, Active Sync services on android, IE6/7/8/9/10/11. Please guide if any of above are effected after disabling SSLv3 ?
