Someone recommended OST Viewer Tool at http://www.ost.viewertool.com/ as an ost viewer software that could also repair my ost files. I wanted to know if anyone used this software before and if they did tell me how effective it is.

"The operation failed" accessing GAL, All Contacts, etc
We are running on-premises standalone Exchange 2010 server, latest release, for our organisation - setup in place for past 6 years, no major issues. All staff run Outlook 2010 either cached mode or Online.
Today all staff reporting when they access Address Book in Outlook 2010 and attempt to display GAL they received "The operation failed" dialogue - no error codes. No errors accessing Contacts, Suggested Contacts, etc. Have run the "Test E-mail AutoConfiguration" and no errors for OAB.
Upon checking the Exchange server, no errors in Event Viewer and C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\OAB contains directory with global address list files. All Microsoft services are running and can open OWA and access GAL there successfully.
At a loss as to cause and what else to try - Google search doesn't show much that I have not tried. Any thoughts as to how to fix?

OAB issue after patching SP3 RU22 - OABGen encountered error 80040115 accessing Active Directory
Hi. We encountered the below error in the application event log of our Exchange 2010 Server:
- OABGen encountered error 80040115 (internal ID 50004ca) accessing Active Directory CONTOSO-DC06
for ”.
- \CONTOSO Offline Address Book - Source: MSExchangeSA
- Event ID: 9330
- Level: Error
As this only occurred after we performed an upgrade from Exchange 2010 SP3 RU5 to RU22, is there anything related to the patch that needs to be catered?

Exchange 2010 Showing Extra DB
hi everyone
we have Exchange 2010 with out DAG , and 9 DB including the public folders.the problem that in summery screen its saying number of DB is 10 , 9 in healthy status and 1 in unhealthy.
we i can find this number 10 DB ??
i already run Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus , and also only the 9 Dbs are showing. please help

Need expert assistance uninstalling on premise exchange 2010 server from windows 2008 server std.
Have successfully migrated ALL email users to Office 365 Exchange server 2010 is no longer needed on Hyper-V host server.
Need to consolidate a Hyper-V server applications back to main 2008 server. Need to free up space so a complete removal of exchange to needed.
I need to minimize any chances of damaging the main server with a sloppy uninstall of exchange.
When I ran uninstall received messages about disabling mailbox databases. I have since shut down most of the exchange services to free up resources.
Can not afford to have any issues as this server must last for another year before a new one is installed.
I am in need of assistance from an expert to remote in and assist me with this little project.

self signed certificate
Hi all,
In my organization, I have exchange 2010 SP1 with the following topology:
2 network load balanced client access server
2 mailbox servers joined to one DAG.
I have 4 self-signed certificates that are expired
According to the self-signed certificate associated to the hubCAS array servers,it is assigned to the SMTP service also the smtp service is assigned to a certificate that it's issued from A private CA, I read that it's best practice to renew self-signed certificate as it used to secure SMTP sessions between hub transport servers in the exchange organization. When I renew self-signed certificate associated with the hub server, is it applicable to assign the SMTP service to both certificate
what I mean in details :
The certificate that is issued from the private certificate authority is assigned the following services (iis,imap,pop,smtp).
The self-signed certificate that will be renewed ,when I assign SMTP service to it wha will happen the SMTP service will work with which certificate
According to the certificates associated to the mailbox sever it is has no services assigned to it
Also is this the way I should use to renew self-signed certificate

Conversion from Lotus Notes to MS Outlook
We have a small office in Kiev, Ukraine and we are currently using Lotus Notes as our e-mail server. We want to convert to MS Outlook for our e-mail. We are looking for help here in Kiev with the acquisition of the right version of MS Outlook for our needs and then for help with the installation, conversion and ongoing IT support.

forefront protection status for exchange 2010

In my organization, I have exchange 2010 SP1 with the following topology:
2 network load balanced client access server that have client access and hub roles (hubcas1,hubcas2)
2 mailbox servers joined to one DAGthat have only mailbox role (MB1,MB2)
I'm planning to install service pack 3 on my exchange server
but it has forefront protection for exchanged installed on all servers ,also I have kasperesky security 9 for microsoft exchange instaled only on hubcas1 and hubcas2 not the mailbox servers
I have 2 questions
1-I think that I have to unistall forefront from all the servers right or not
2-I read in the installing service pack ,I should uncheck "enable anti spam " and "anti virus scan "

Outlook 2010 Crashes while opening Recuring Calender. Mail server : Update Rollup 14 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3
Hi all,
we are using exchange server 2010 SP3 and all our users are installed with outlook 2010
recently our IT is reported with lot of calendar related issues. while opening a recurring calendar event in outlook it crashes and restarting the MS outlook. the event is schedule for a year and occurs every 2 weeks.Checked there is no attachment in the calendar event.
we are not using MC cached exchange mode due to security restrictions.
can you please provide some insight on fixing the issue or go in correct path to isolate the issue

Exchange 2010 OST recovery question
If the main Exchange server (2010) is lost and a recovery is done to databases that are, say a week old, does the info in the OST (which is most up to date) propagate to the server, or does the old copy on the server update the OST?

Can't upgrade to Exchange 2010 SPx without hotfix 977624 and 977592 - but they are no longer available.

It's currently installed on a Windows 2008 SP2 Server, which is up to date with updates.
When Exchange does the 'Prerequisites check' I get the following errors...

The Microsoft page for Prerequisites - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/office/exchange-server-2010/bb691354(v=exchg.141) - also says these are required. But the pages do not exist anymore.
However - this link - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4343220/this-hotfix-is-no-longer-available - says the hotfix is no longer is available and to get it from regular updates. The server is up to date.
I've run the latest roll up for Exchange 2008 RTM (roll up 5). Still I get the above errors.
So I can't upgrade which means i can't migrate. I'm stuck.
Also, I know this sounds like an Exchange issue, but the hotfixes I require are for Windows Server.
Any help appreciated.

Exchange migration 2010 to office 365

My company made a decision recently to host our mail in the cloud.
Currently we have a exchange 2010 on premises and want to migrate to exchange online office 365.
I know we need to do a hybrid and setup Azure ad connect.
but my question is : Is this possible without doing the hybrid and ad connect?
ex. - export pst form on site en import it on office
- export email to csv and iport is in offce?
Have any of you guys did the migration?

my email server when receiving mails from SPAM ,the posmaster sends mails again to the sender and the mail is queued in the server
because it is trying to send it so I close the email and choose cancel without sending a NDR report.
so as a quick solution I disabled nondelivery report for remote domains

Hub Transport - Content filter - Action - Quarantine - mailaddress
Hi
When I configure Content Filter below Custom Words block if the message are with [Spam] and below Action with an email address on a Public folder there is mailenabled. I do not receive any mails into the Public folder.
I am using McAfee Groupshield with spamfilter, and this software can send the spam into the public folder without any problems.
On McAfee Groupshield Dasboard I can see the mail is received and I can see a delivery error (postmaster is unable to delivery)
I an able to mail to the public folder directly from my Outlook, but when I try to do let the Content filter to do so I do not receive any mail
A hint would be nice

After creating a new default throttling policy, will it apply all previous users also or only new users which will be created??
I am using exchange 2010. Have planned to create a new throttling policy and make it default with customize setting.
Will this be applied for only new users or old users also where already default exchange throttling policy applied.
I want only new users to be applied on this default, do not want any change for old users.

Autocomplete clearing on exit (Outlook 2013 on Exchange 2010).
I have one user whose autocomplete cache is not working. I was thinking it was possibly an Outlook profile corruption issue (as use of the Autocomplete Cache is enabled in the Outlook options), however the entries don't show up in OWA, either.
SERVER: Microsoft Exchange 2010 SP3
CLIENT: Outlook 2013
CACHED EXCHANGE MODE: No
I'm not sure what all to check. Everything seems to work (remembering entries) until Outlook is closed. The next time it's opened anything that was previously saved is gone.

Mails are not getting received
Hi,
We use Exchange 2010 Standard. We have one mailbox server and one hubcas server. I am posting here, if this is not the suitable place, please move it to the required forum.
There is no edge server.
Sometimes we have mails stuck in our mail security gateway.
I also get below errors in event logs.
Event 9213
A non-expirable message with the Internal Message ID 15805706 could not be categorized. This message may be a journal report or other system message. The message will remain in the queue until administrative action is taken to resolve the error. Other messages
may also have encountered this error. To further diagnose the error, use the Queue Viewer or the Exchange Mail Flow Troubleshooter.
Event 8010
A message with the Internal Message ID 15593265 was rejected by the remote server. This message will be deferred and retried because it was marked for retry if rejected. Other messages may also have encountered this error.
We have journaling enabled on databases.
Please let me know how do I find the root cause of this issue.

Find date and time of when email was read
Had an interesting request today from HR. They wanted to know if a specific email had been read (or at least opened/marked as read) and we said yeah, that's easy. Then they asked if it was possible to see what time the email was opened. That part
I'm not so sure about. Does anybody know how to find out at timestamp of when an email was read/opened/marked as read? If there is a way through Powershell, that would be preferable but just wondering if anybody knows if there is a timestamp associated with
an email being flagged as read that we can pull from a specific email in someone's mailbox. We're on Exchange 2010 SP1. Thanks!
