DAG network requirements

Hi, I have a small challenge with designing a second site solution with DAG.

I know the requirements for NICs and network for DAG, but I also have a little special setup.

2 different subnets in 2 locations (one AD site). Just normal simple setup with 1 combined CAS/HUB/MBX server in each subnet.

Now i need to add the replication network (each server will have 2 nics), but I cannot find the requirement for the replication network. Can the replication network be 2 seperate subnets? Or does it have to be 1 stretched VLAN (ie. 10.0.10.x/24) across both locations? My network guys refuses to add a strechted VLAN across 2 locations, and I therefore wonder if I can create 2 seperate VLANs on each location reserved for Replication traffic.

For example:

Location A:
MAPI network: 10.10.10.x/24
Replication network: 10.10.100.x/24

Location B:
MAPI network: 10.20.10.x/24
Replication network: 10.20.200.x/24

And of course I have to setup routing between the 2 replication network (and no traffic between replication and MAPI network). Will this work? Or do I have to have 1 subnet wich is stretched on both locations?

I have setup DAG before on different sites, but I always been used to have 1 stretched VLAN across the sites.

Thanks :)
