Hey all,
I've got a very odd issue affecting some users, how many I don't know.
2 site DAG, multi-role Ex2010 SP2RU5v2 servers. Primary in Australia, Secondary in the Vancouver. CAS array setup in both sites, mailbox DB set to respond with primary site RPC CAS (cname which is changed to secondary server for failover).
Timeline:
Friday evening, primary offline, move db to secondary site, db mounts perfectly line; cname changed to point to secondary server (cname ttl 1 minute). Outlook fails to load, looks like its trying to open mailbox on primary server, creating a new profile finds the user in AD but fails to launch mailbox, going into manual configuration shows that its trying to connect to the primary server, change that to the cname and it connects to the secondary server and opens mailbox. Appears to be affecting all users.
Tested everything, fine, failed back over, outlook clients open as normal.
We have an MDM solution called MobileIron, get notified that users are not getting e-mail on their device; setup a device with a sydney user and it works no problem, MI log shows its connecting to the right server and is responsive. However, other users (setup prior to the failover and failback) are being redirected to the Vancouver server:
Changing Server based on recorded redirect information from: sydney.server to: https://vancouver.server/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
There is a second DAG stretched from Vancouver to London, one of the Vancouver servers does have a ActiveSync redirect external URL but it is not part of the Sydney-Vancouver DAG. That is the only thing I can think of that might be causing issues.
Anyone else got any ideas?
John
