TCP errors between Outlook and Exchange servers

We've received a loaner Fluke OptiView XG, ours for 2 weeks. It also includes their Clearsight Analyzer (CA), which is basically a packet analyzer. We are hoping that this will help us nail down quirky behavior in the environment.

The Outlook users are separated from the Exchange servers by a 1Gb MetroE circuit. Our two hubs & single mailbox servers are on E2010SP2 RU4, and the two CAS servers are only on E2010SP2; the latter because there is a 3rd-party software conflict with the Address Book service in RU4 that we came across which PSS had no previous record. The hardware load balancer is used for the hub & cas farms; the hlb is in the same physical site as the Exchange servers.

These are the issues we're struggling with, OWA has never reported to be having an issue when these problems arise:

1. We have multiple authoritative e-mail domains, but only one login domain. Sometimes the users get prompted for a certificate for their primary e-mail domain, however the website for that domain is managed by a vendor, and thus we have a redirect to their server in our DNS for the web hosting. This breaks cert lookups against that domain.

2. Random issues with Outlook clients of all versions (2003-2010 with latest hotfixes) disconnecting from Exchange. Restarting Outlook, logging off, or restarting the OS to reconnect will randomly resolve the issue.

3. Users getting prompted for credentials but sometimes the credentials are not accepted; we also have Sharepoint 2010 and Communicator 2007 R2 in the environment.

So CA has shown me a few things but I don't know where to start; I have PDF & CSV exports but it doesn't seem as if those file types can be posted here...

1) Retry (Out of Sequence) errors from my client to casarray (which is a hardware load balancer) causing delays up to 315s.

2) Timeout errors from casarray to my client.

3) Retry (Out of Sequence) errors from my client to the mailbox server causing delays up to 600s.

4) Same as #3 except to casarray.

5) Powershell errors from my client to CAS node 1; internal server error & unauthorized.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you can provide.

Jim
