In owa several users are getting "The server operation timed out. Please try again later." Restarting IIS didnt resolve this. No errors in event viewer.
It could happen clicking on anything, a message, the calendar and it's intermittent.

Our environment got 2 Exchange 2010 SP1 servers all roles running in a DAG on two different sites. They are virtual machines.
We want to add a new physical exchange server and make it acts as primary for one site which has more users. Current VM machine on the same site will be standby for passive database:

Exchange1 (Current): MB01(Active), MB02(Passive) MB01(Passive), MB02(Active)
Planning Configuration:
Site A Site B
Exchange1 (Current): MB01(Passive), MB02(Passive) MB02(Active)

What is the best approach for this task? I have something in my mind as following:
Is above approach good?
How can I create fail-over network configuration as above plan?
How easy we could make new physical server become Exchange1 and rename current one to Exchange2 to make it look nice (Exchange1 is active and all user connect to it, Exchange2 is passive)? Can I setup a new Virtual Machine Exchange2 with SP2, migrate all
roles to this and decommission the Exchange1 virtual. After that setup physical server as Exchange1? By doing this, we got 2 fresh exchange servers which better to go for 2013 version later on.

I have an Exchange 2010 server that is operating on a godaddy SAN SSL. It was decided to change a few of the alt names in the cert. goddady will allow me to "manage" the SSL and change the alt names in the cert without a rekey. The new SSL is issued once the new alt names are vetted. My question is how do I get the new cert into the exchange server?

Environment:
- Two domains exist: Dom1 and Dom2. The users log on to Dom1 when loggin on to Windows, and on to Dom2 for e-mail, so the Exchange server resides on Dom2. There is a DNS forwarder set up so that these domains can communicate.
- Mail Server: Exchange 2010 SP2
- Hub Transport + Mailbox Servers (2): MS1, MS2
- Hub Transport + CAS's (2): CAS1, CAS2
- Outlook Anywhere enabled : outlook.domain.com
- Virtual Directories authentication methods in IIS 7 configured according to MS Best Practice
- Network Load Balancing configured on CAS1,CAS2
- Outlook clients are confgured with outlook.domain.com in their RPC settings, NTLM authentication
- There is no password expiry policy set on AD user objects on Dom 2
- There is a 60 password expirey policy set on AD user objects on Dom 1
Problem:
Intermittently, users are prompted for their credentials when launching the Outlook client, or they are unable to reach OWA. Inside the network, and outside the network. This only affects some users. The types of users affected are normally users using browsers other that IE (OWA), or users that are working remotely offsite outside of the network (Outlook client).
Detailed description:
Outlook Client:
A user is working remotely and is only connected to the internet, not to domain.com's network where the mail server resides. When he launches the Outlook 2010 client, at the bottom right the status says: "Trying to connect". A credentials box pops up requesting the user's username and password. The user types in his credentials, the box disappears for a couple of seconds, then pops up again. The user then tries to enter these credentials on the OWA site, and can log in successfully. The user account is not locked out in AD, and performing a get-logonstatistics in PowerShell shows that the client has had a successful login with OWA, but not with the client.
When the user comes back to the office and plugs into the LAN or Wireless network within the domain, the problem resolves itsself.
OWA:
A user is working on a laptop connected to the LAN inside the domain.com internal network. He uses an alternate operating system and internet browser. When browsing to the Outlook Anywhere or OWA address, the user gets a time out. the result is the same with other non-IE browsers. This issue is also intermittent, and seems to hop from user to user.
Troubleshooting & workarounds:
Outlook client:
-set the user's ad user object to 'password never expires'
-cleared the user's cached credentials for Outlook from User Accounts in Control Panel
or
-user comes into the office and email works fine
OWA:
-perform IIS reset on both CAS's
-clear user's cache in non-IE browser
(this only works for a while, then the browsers start timing out on the OWA site again)
Current status:
I removed CAS2 (recently built, round about the time the problem started) from NLB and removed its Hub Transport Role, which seemed to decrease the non-IE browser OWA issue somewhat. No issues are being reported by end users from remote sites using the Outlook client, quite possibly because they are using OWA in stead until they come back into the office. All users are therefor currently connecting to CAS1 alone, since the other CAS is not available to them anymore.
Question:
I have configured CAS2 exactly the same as CAS1, all settings are alike, and added it to NLB. Why is CAS2 causing a problem?
Is it in fact CAS2 that is causing the problem?
Where do I start troubleshooting the possibility that it is the NLB and not the CAS2 causing the problem?

i have 2 cas server exchange 2010 in cas array and 2 mailbox server in DAG exchange 2010 all server are SP2, if i create a new user in exchange its not updating in offline address book, but once i run the below command and restart the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution on cas, after that i can see the new users in offline address book
Get-OfflineAddressbook | Update-OfflineAddressbook
Get-ClientAccessServer | Update-FileDistributionService
restart the Microsoft Exchange File Distribution (CAS server)

I have a number of mailboxes in a distribution group. I want to perform a multi-mailbox search on these mailboxes.
so basic query will be something like:
Get-mailbox | search-mailbox <date range>
How do I construct the Get-mailbox part of the command so that the distribution group mailboxes are extracted?
and also what is the syntax for the date range? example would be nice.

I am a SharePoint Developer and not familiar with exchange server. Pardon me if this is wrong forum or i am not able to specify issue correctly.
Issue is that we are sending an email from our custom application in SharePoint to "ALLUsers" group which contains all the employees of the organization. This email is send via SharePoint usingSPUtility.SendEmail method.
Now, not all the times but some times emails goes to Junk E-mail folder. We have discussed this with IT and they said they have already added the IP address of our SharePoint Server into "whitelist". After much discussion, they have send us following code to add it in our email:

I accidently deleted my public folders. (must have been too much work and not enough sleep --gotta blame something). I have tried the following to get them back;
1. used outlook 2013 recover delted items (this worked for some of the folders)
2. Used Exfolders (version 14.17.*.*) and I get recovery partially suceeded and it doesn't work.
3. tried digiscope and it didn't show the deleted folders. I don't want to spend money to use it unless I can get the folders back.
4. I have upgraded ex 2010 to sp2-5-2 rollup. and reran exfolders. no joy.
everything I have found says the exfolders 14.2.*.* will work, but my searching has not found that. I only see the 14.17.266.0.
Does anyone have a link for the latest version of Exfolders?
Does anyone have any other ideas?

We would like to convert all incoming mails to a specific user in our organization from HTML to plain text. Is that possible?
Scenario:
A message is sent in HTML internally from user 1 to user 2. The message should arrive in plain text in user 2´s inbox and then be forwarded to user 3 in this format.
Is this possible with a transport rule? Or maybe can I configure the mailbox to force all incoming mails to be in plain text?

I think i am getting myself in a muddle and was hoping someone could clear this up for me with a reference to an article? (I've tried googling it)
We have 15 Exchange 2010 servers each with Mailbox, CAS and Hub role installed. Hardware loadbalancer with the CAS Array configured.
10 Servers with 10 active databases, and each server has a passive copy. 5 more servers at DR that have another passive copy
Users all use Outlook 2007 (SP2)
If a database is moved between dag members either through fail over or planned maintance does it become unavailble for the users until it has been activated on the second server?
I know mailbox moves with outlook 2007 SP2 can be done online between databases up to 95% then there is a 'blip'
But what about the databases as a whole? We had several users complain there outlook said it was disconnected from exchange as i did a database move all localised at one office. I'd have expected 400 users across all offices to have complained if it was the database that caused the outlook outage. Personally i think the office experienced an issue with the CAS Array comms but i need to confirm that moving databases between DAG members is ok during production hours without affecting users.

I use a a cvs file with this fields: Name,Alias,UserPrincipalName,Database,OrganzationalUnit,Password. The problem is that the OrganizationalUnit I want to put the users is Users - Company,Users - Test

I've just installed 1 x Exchange 2010 SP2 server (EXC01) into a test domain (test.local). The only requirement for OWA is for Internal access, no external access. The default internal URL for OWA is https://exc01.test.local/owa but I don't want to expose this URL to users. Instead I would like users to access OWA through a URL such as https://mail.test.local/owa. I would also like to follow this thread with ECP so the URL will be https://mail.test.local/ecp.
How can I achieve this?

I have a user when using outlook the following doesn't work:
1- Access to Public Folders, on every attempt the user gets the following error: "Cannot Expand the folder. The Set of the folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to Microsoft Exchange has failed."
==> it's not Outlook Profile: Profile has been rebuilt multiple times.
==> it's not Outlook itself: Other users' mailboxes have been set up on the same affected user's machine with no issues accessing Public folders. Also the affected mailbox has been setup on another machine and the issue still persists.
==>We also completely deleted and rebuilt the user's mailbox in Exchange to no success.
2- This same user is also unable to create meetings and selecting conference rooms in the meeting invite as Rooms, the user gets the following error: "Cannot directly book a resource for this meeting"
==> This issue hasn't been resolved after running through all the solutions described above.
Any help is much appreciated as this issue is only affecting a single user.

I'm running two exchange 2010 servers MX1 sp2( 14.02.0318.001) & MX2 RTM (14.02.0247.005). A month ago is when I installed the RTM then tried upgrading to SP2 it gave me issues and I switched it off. now when I try uninstalling it, it comes as if its upgrading to sp2 instead giving me option to install then gives me the error below.
some controls aren't valid - Exsetup cannot be called directly to perform upgrades. please use setup.com

I have Exchange 2010 server SP2 rollup 4 v2 on Windows server 2008 R2 SP1.
We trying to migrate archives from EV (Symantec Enterprise Vault) to Exchange server online archive.
We chose the option of export to PST from the EV and import the PST to Exchange personal archive withMicrosoft Exchange PST capture tool.
We configured retention policy that:
1. moving to archive mail items older than 6 months.
2. deleting mail items older that 7 years.
The issue we have is that the retention policy of deleting mail items does not applied on mailboxes that imported from PST files to personal archives, and the mail items older than 7 years still retain in the personal archive and not deleted.
The issue do not applied on users that migrated from EV regullary by extracting mail items to primary mailbox and from there moved to personal archive mailbox with retention policy and mail items older than 7 years can be deleted.
We checked it with Outlook 2013, still not checked it with Outlook 2010, but I don't really think that the Outlook is the issue here.

i have a problem with outlook anywhere, i tried to publish it through TMG, if i hit https://mail.mydomain.com/rpc i can get the login window that ask for my username and pass
but then after that, i got: 503 Service Unavailable
i put my outlook anywhere using basic authentication, and in TMG, i set no delegation but user may authenticate directly.
do you know what happened?
