Hi,

Have created a new Receive connector to allow a specific server (HR system that sends Notification via email)  to relay email through Exchange 2010 HT server as stated in the linkhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232021.aspx . still cannot send through it . is there something that I am missing?

Note that I have the original receive connectors 1.the default connector & 2.the client connector.

Iphone / IPad calender issue

Hello guys

i am facing the following after moving from 2007 to 2010

calendar invite notification to accept, maybe, and decline even though it has been accepted by the delegate. The meeting invites are set to only go to the delegate of the executive so the meeting invite should not be routed to their devices at all. If you go into a iPhone, settings, mail/accounts, and scroll to the bottom to calendar there is a feature on the iPhone/iPad that allows you to turn meeting invite notifications to off. This worked in 2007 but not in 2010.

this is happening on anyone who has (delegates only). For users who do not have delegates we had to enable a feature called “automatically process meeting requests from outside the organization” on Exchange 2010 to eliminate the meeting invite notifications from popping up on the users iPhone when accepted from Outlook 2010 on their PC. This does not work for anyone who has delegates.

Any idea what that might be ?

Thanks

Hi we are getting an issue with OWA search in Exchnage 2010 where the search function does not work. We get the error as mentioned in the title. The exchange has Sp1 installed along with Rollup 7, rollup 7 v2 and rollup 8.

I have tried the following:

Running: .\Repair-ExchangeSearchSymlinks.ps1

Running:.\ResetSearchIndex.ps1 -force -all

This does not seem to have fixed the issue. I have also tried

Test-ExchangeSearch -Identity administrator@domain.com -Verbose   results in a timeout.

I have also tried moving the administrator account to another new Database but still the same issue. Can anybody help ?

Delete public folder content

Hello

I have a customer that wants to delete any content within a specific Public Folder that is older than 3 months. He would prefer if this could be done with a script that he could run now and then. Has anyone heard of any method to accomplish this?

User moving to sister company; concerns

$

Our sister company and us each have our own Exchange 2010 environment. One of our internal teams are being logically relocated to be homed on the sister company's server so that they'll only be able to send messages from their new e-mail address, but physically they will remain here in a separate physical building. However they will retain some of their current roles and they are desiring to keep some of their existing access.

The multiple e-mail addresses used by each mailbox at our office need to redirect over there; we think we can do that with a address rewriting on our smart SMTP host or a forwarding from Exchange. Each company has an external non-transitive trust with the other AD domain, but nothing similar to a trust or federation has been configured within Exchange.

Some other things which have come up:

1) It seems they won't be able to see the current address book from the new location unless they keep a local account/mailbox in the old domain.

2) Most internal distribution groups require senders to be authenticated. Because mail is routed over the internet, it would not be authenticated and they would no longer be able to send messages to these groups.

3) Can we add a contact from the sister GAL to a local distribution group, or would it need to be a local custom contact?

4) Scan-to-email from an internal copier works for the current internal addresses, but not for the external addresses.

I'd appreciate feedback on possible resolutions or other issues to consider that we may have missed.

DAG IP stealing DNS entry

I have a 2 site DAG that seems to work fine most of the time. In the last month or so, I keep seeing the DNS entry for my mail servers change to the DAG IP address. To clarify, I have EXCH1 with an IP of 192.168.11.241 and I've created a DNS entry for that. My DAG IP is 192.168.11.154. It is listed in DNS just like that. But just about every day I am getting a warning from my network monitor that EXCH1 cannot be contacted. When I check DNS I see that the DNS entry for EXCH1 has changed to 192.168.11.154, the DAG's IP address. Now I know the DAG has to live on a node, but what is making it change my DNS entry for the actual server??

Message tracking no longer working

I am currently running MS Exchange 2010 SP1 with Mailbox, Edge, and Client Hub servers. For some reason on 1/8/13 MessageTracking stopped creating logs on my servers.

The location is the default path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\TransportRoles\Logs\MessageTracking

Network Service account has Full-Permissions on the folder.

Confirmed in the properties of the Transport Server>Log Settings, Enable message tracking log is checked.

No updates were installed on the day it failed to write to the directory.

I even disabled and re-enabled via powershell.

Anyone have some suggestions on what I might be missing?

Feature Request: Attachment removal in OWA

I looked around but could not find a way to submit a feature request to the Exchange Team at Microsoft.

We are pretty much a 100% OWA environment (school district, 95% Macs). Since many of our users use the email system as a file server (I am sure most of you deal with the same thing ;-) I would love to see Microsoft incorporate one very important feature of Outlook, and that is the ability to remove attachments in the OWA interface.

If this is not the correct medium to ask this request, could one of you wonderful Microsoft folks post the link for feature requests to the Exchange Team? Much obliged!

.\Troubleshoot-DatabaseSpace.ps1 -mailboxdatabasename

Hi there,

I'm having problems running this powershell script, I have changed the directory to the local exchange install scripts folder:c:\program files\microsoft\exchange server\v14\scripts>

I only want to run this on one of the many stores I have on my exchange system but everytime I try all I get is

Warning: the command completed successfully but no settings of 'mailstore-name' have been modified.

I no this is something really simple and running the command: .\Troubleshoot-databasespace.ps1 -mailboxdatabasename mailstore-name -PercentLogFreeSpace 70 -HourThreshold 5 -Quarantine

The reason I am doing this is, we have noticed on one mailstore the logs are growing at a massive rate and we have spotted it quite early on as our other mailstores which are up to x5 larger are nowhere near the size of the logs generated, so trying to track down which user is causing the issue.

the command appears to work if I run the -server switch instead but do not want to inadvertantly put a performance/quarantine impact on other users.

Can anyone help.

Force a crawling database copy to activate

Is there anyway to force a database copy to activate when it's content index state is 'crawling', the "number of mailboxes left to crawl" perfmon counter is going down but at the current rate it will take days.

I have already rebuilt the index  (hence the crawling state) so I'm not that bothered about loosing it.

I would like to get the databases active on their 'home' server to redistribute the load as they are currently active on a server that already has active copies of its own databases

Hi All,

I have DR Site with shared namespace (mail.domain.com). eventhough, i am trying to connect one of DR Site mailbox. Its going via mail.domain.com to dr-mail.domain.com  for OWA.

Why is like that ? Is it taking CAS array URL for this.

One more thing, I am getting Outanywhere error while testing from testexchangeconnectivity.com.

Server generated reply - how

$

Hi

I have a mailbox with a serverside "autoreply" (let the server send a message).

I was asked to find all those mails. :-)

My question is, what exactly is the technique behind the scenes?

Is they saved in the database somewhere? Where are they generated?

I have now made a transport rule which saves a copy of those replys in a subfolder - but what about all those messages sent in the past?

Hi,

I am upgrading from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.

Can you please confirm that the Exchange 2010 Hub Server will deliver direct to the Exchange 2003 Mailbox Servers and it doesn't need to go via a 2003 SMTP Bridgehead?

thanks

How can I setup outlook anywhere with a dynamic IP adress (exchange 2010)

$

We are an IT company that implement Exchange 2010 (usually SBS 2011) and provide internet acess.
Due to living in South Africa we are forced to cater for 3g ADSL failover and dynamic IP addresses as a result.
We are having a problem using dynamic IP addresses with outlook anywhere.

When it is a static address we point the A record remote.domain.com to the IP address for the domain and things work great.

When however using a dynamic address we can't find a workable solution.

If we update the A record to point to domain.dyndns.org it resolves domain.dyndns.org to its current IP and sets that in the A record. Therefore when the IP address changes it does not update.

I have also tried changing the outlook anywhere connect from https://remote.domain.com to https://domain.dyndns.org but get certificate erros.
I have tried adding a self cert (SBS 2011) for domain.dyndns.org but that changes the email addresses for the users!
Any assistance, suggestions or directions would be most appreciated
Thanks

Audit the tracking log access by administrators

$

Dear all,

I have a strange requirements coming from the internal Governance unit of a customer. They are basically asking to be able to track which administrator did view/accessed the "Message Tracking Log" and when.

I was looking to satisfy the requirement, but I wasn't able to find any way to do it with the native Exchange 2010 tools and commands.

The tracking log are themselves an audit tool and, as all the cmdlets to view them are get-* type, their usage is not logged even in the Admin Audit Logging...

Do someone dealt with a similar request? There is any way to actually do it? There is some 3rd party tool that can perform the requested auditing?

Thanks to anyone who will provide his/her own experience and/or suggestions

Exchange 2010 database pointing to a cas server instead of the cas array

$

0

Hi

I have a DAG with Exchange 2010 sp2.

There are three mailboxes that host three databases and two CAS servers in a CAS array.

The CAS array internal URL is casarray.mydomain.local.

My problem is that the RPCClientAccessServer value on one of the databases points to cas01.mydomain.local instead of casarray.mydomain.local.

If I use the set-mailboxdatabase –rpcclientaccessserver cmdlet, the value of the database changes to casarray.mydomain.local but after a while it reverts back to cas01.mydomain.local.

The other two databases are pointing to the CAS array and I don't have that problem with them.

Any idea how to fix this or why it happens?

Thank you.
