Exchange 2010 and Client Access Server Roll

Hi,

We have one CAS/HUB server, two mailbox roll servers in a DAG. Both mailbox roll servers have public folder database and both are replicate each other. Now we are going to office365. Now we need to install client access roll on public folder database server(mailbox roll server) for office365 users to access the public folder from on premises according to

We don't want get any problem after installing another CAS server roll. Our users' outlook should not interrupt with new installation. We are not setup client access array here. We are installing this for public folders access to office365 mailboxes. How to install and configure?

Please help us to achieve this.

Excessive SPAM even with SPAM Filtering configured

SPAM Filtering is configured and is checking email, however, its not catching SPAM email messages. The header on a sample message came in with SCL:0 and PCL:2. The AntispamReport says SenderIDStatus None. But its SPAM. Wondering if recently others are experiencing a lot of SPAM and how can the filters in Exchange be configured tighter but not block good email.

Limiting Memory Usage of Exchange 2010sp1 store.exe on a Windows 2012r2 Server?

Hello,

I am running Windows 2012r2 Server with Exchange 2010sp1, 1 forest and 6 mailboxes. So this is not a heavy load for Exchange 2010sp1 to handle. The problem is the Windows 2012r2 server is also used as a file storage server. The problem is the Exchange 2010sp1 is using most of the 16GB of ram available and slowing down the server. Is it possible to limit the Exchange 2010sp1 store.exe to use less memory and if so what are the steps in Windows 2012r2 to complete this task.

I have read that it can be done through ADSI Edit. But the steps they explain are not for Windows 2012r2 and do not match.

failed remove Exchange2003

Good Day ,

I am trying to uninstall Exchange 2003 from a server and getting the following error :

failure of the sub-component Exchange Activesync Setup when installing with a 0x80072030 error code

Normaly I follwed the steps in this link one by one :

I don't knwo why I got this error

I did ignore and i continue after appear one message :

Exchange 2010 Size Concerns

We have one Exchange 2010 server with one mailbox database.  The database is currently 750GB and grows on average around 2-3 GB per weekday.  At what  point do we start to worry about the size affecting the performance and will there be a point where one Exchange server is not enough?  We have no retention policies.  I am trying to sell management on an archiving solution.

Offline Address Book Not Updating New Users

Hello,

In our organization we are having Offline Address Book problem which is :

1. Address book is current in OWA

2. Address book is not current in Outlook 2010 although its successfully being updated when  "Download Address Book"

3. Update-GlobalAddressList command output :

4. Address book has been selected to be ditributed from 2 CAS servers and public folder which resides in a MBX server.

5. We are able to locate the oab.xml file in the CAS servers.

6. There are 2 folders in MBX server's C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ExchangeOAB, both has wrong timestamps. (one from 2013 and other is 3 weeks old.)

Any help is appriciated.

Firefox gets critical error NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE using OWA after installing SP3 UR7

After installing SP3 UR7 Firefox shows an Exchange Error Message.

This occurs if using OWA by Firefox and opening the AutoReply or MailSettings Item.
It does not alway happen on the first run, but after clicking a second or third time to through the Items its always reproduceable.

OWA > ECP > E-Mail Organisation > Autoreply or Settings > Mail  (should be sth. like this because its a German Version)

Error installing Exchange 2010 (Hub and Client access)

I am trying to install exchange 2010 but the installation fails with the error:

"The following error was generated when "$error.Clear(); initialize-ExchangeConfigurationPermissions -DomainController $RoleDomainController

" was run: "Couldn't find schema attribute msExchMinorPatnerId in CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=**,DC=** on ".

Couldnl't find schema attribute msExchMinorPartnerId in CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=**,DC=** on

Why is this happening?

My server is Windows Server 2008 R2.

I was trying to install the Hub and Client Access rules.

My server is in a domain and connected to a AD

Private flag

Folks

I share my calendar with persons A and B in my organization. Now, if I send out a meeting invite to C but forget to set the private flag, can I go back to my calendar, right click on the invite and click on Private and expect it to be hidden from A and B. I also assume that it will only show private in my calendar but not in C's calendar. I don't have access to an Exchange server but does someone mind performing this quick test for me?

Exchange 2010 - database log increasing exponentaly

Hi there.

We have added DAG into our environment.

We have enabled two database to be in this DAG.

The first sync did not went thru and we found an article that temporarly enabling Circular loging could solve the issue.

So we ran this powershell commands:

add-mailboxdatabasecopy "Database1" –mailboxServer "exchange-disaster-recovery.domain.local" –seedingPostponed:$TRUE
set-mailboxdatabase "Database1" –circularLogging:$TRUE
update-mailboxdatabasecopy "Database1\exchange-disaster-recovery.domain.local" –deleteExistingFiles:$TRUE
set-mailboxdatabase "Database1" –circularLogging:$FALSE

So, after sync went thru circularlogging is disabled, but now we are experiencing a problem that disk which holds LOGS of exchange databases, exponentaly increases.

We haven't done full backup yet, soo is that maybe the reason?

Hi All,

I am hoping that someone could perhaps provide some insight on this topic as I apparently can't seem to google the best answer.

I have recently acquired an AD domain that is running on a 2003 domain controller. I have been tasked with upgrading our existing domain structure with 2012 R2 domain controllers for our main office and remote offices.

The domain name is company.mynetwork.com, and it is the default first site name. We have multiple offices throughout the US with their own domain controllers (i.e. FL.mynetwork.com, NY.mynetwork.com, DC.mynetwork.com, etc.).

Our main office, and default first site has one domain controller (mynetdc1) running Server 2003 R2. It is also our only DNS server for the main office. It also has an additional domain controller called mynetmaster3 which is running Server 2003.

Both mynetdc1 & mynetmaster3 NTDS settings show them as global catalogs under AD Sites & Services. Both servers are also in the AD Domain Controllers OU, along with all of the other satellite office domain controllers.

Additionally, our main office is running Exchange 2010 with the latest service pack. My questions are:

  • Can we demote and retire mynetmaster3, then replace mynetdc1 with a newly promoted 2012 R2 global catalog domain controller without harming anything in the domain tree and interrupting connectivity to the other offices (this of course goes without saying after a 4 hour maintenance window to get the task completed has passed)?
  • Should we upgrade the satellite offices first after raising the functional level for mynetdc1, or should we do the opposite (upgrade main office, then satellite offices)?
  • MS Exchange 2010 is heavily dependent on AD, what effect will this entire project have on our email server? What steps should we take beforehand to ensure email continuity?
  • Finally, is there any shame for a Net Admin to suggest that we hire an implementation specialist for this task? :)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Multiple Delegates approval/deny notification

We have several Room Mailbox resources that have multiple delegates assigned to them. The complaint we're receiving is, if one of the delegates approves the meeting request, is there a way for the other delegates to get notification that it has been approved either by removing the approval request from the other delegates mailbox, or a simple notification that it has already been approved by said delegate.

Also, what if one delegate approves a request and one denies it, who wins? The last one to take the action?

Reboot Exchange 2013 DAG Member Server and Cluster Name Goes offline.

Hello, I have Server 2012 with Exchange 2013 installed. When I reboot the nodes in the Exchange 2013 DAG (one at a time), the DAG Cluster Name will go offline as well as the IP address.  When I attempt to bring it online manually I get the following:

"Cluster IP address resource 'Cluster IP Address' cannot be brought online because the cluster network 'Cluster Network 2' is not configured to allow client access. Please use the Failover Cluster Manager snap-in to check the configured properties of the cluster network."

If I click properties and say allow client access, I get the following popup and the settings do not save:

The network is now available for clients to connect to the clustered roles in the cluster.  However, before this can happen, the client access point for the clustered roles needs to be updated with new IP Addresses for this network.

Anyone else have an issue with the DAG network when you reboot?  If I remove the DAG and recreate it, all works fine until the next reboot.  At the moment we only have a few people on it while we test this out, but I need to get this corrected prior to moving my entire company.

When Running the Exchange Performance Troubleshooter we are getting a processor bottleneck - System Context Switches/sec above threshold of 34,000 over the threshold of 20,000. Real time Perfmon counters confirm the value and Dual CPU's Intel E5 2670 2.6 GHZ  are under 5% utilized.

The help link refers you to an old link from 2006 and refers to Exchange 2003. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995907(v=EXCHG.80).aspx Could this be a false positive?

Why Load Balancer is Required for Single CAS Array

Hi, 

I am confused why do i need HLB for one CAS Array, i have single site with 200 user mailboxes. I have EX2010 with 2 servers each having role of MBX/CAS/HUB. So multiroles 2 servers. I have configured 1 CAS array and include 2 servers in it. My question is why do i need HLB for this scenario.

Is it recommended to use HLB in this scenario?

What i am going to achieve by using HLB?

Where attachments are filtered?

Hello! I have Exchange organization with edge server in DMZ. Users was complaining about blocking encrypted zip attachments in inbound mail. I disabled attachment filtering agent at edge server and problem seems to be resolved. Then i had decided to check whether .ps1 and other scripts attachment are still blocked and found that they are. So the question is: what agent, or what else and where blocks scripts in emails?

Growing Pains - Move DB to new volume or to secondary server?

Exchange 2010, SP3 Update Rollup 6; Running Virtually (VMware) Server 2008 R2, SP1

2 servers - CAS, and MB, no DAG

800 Mailboxes, 14 Mailbox Databases.  Largest is 421GB, other sizes are 208GB, 118GB, 114GB all others are under 100GB.

Users in the largest MB DB are experiencing Outlook performance problems:
- Outlook not responding for 1 to 60 seconds.
- Outlook stalls or hangs for just a few seconds when drafting a new email.
- Outlook disconnects and prompts for login credentials.

One thing to mention: - we have recently configured all users to use Non-Cached mode.  While I suspect this to be the cause, we need to retain this setting because we run Outlook on Virtual Desktops and cannot have caching enabled.

I'm just wondering what is the best method to optimize Outlook performance?
A. Move the largest MB DB to another volume on the same server?
B. Move the largest MB DB to a new server?
C. Build a secondary CAS server?
D. B and C above?
E. Another suggestion?
