ADSIedit & RPCCLientAccessServer
Hi, Silly question this one.
To satisfy my own curiosity, I wanted to "see" the RPCClientAccessServer attribute on a EX2010 database, using ADSIEdit.
I can locate the Mailbox Database within ADSIEdit, but when I look at the properties, I don't see the attribute.
Configuration\CN=Configuration\CN=Services\CN=Microsoft Exchange\CN=First Organisation\CN=Administrative Groups\CN=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)\CN=Databases
Should I be looking somewhere else?
Just to state the obvious:
yes there is a CAS Array configured, which displays under the CN=Arrays container
If I run get-mailboxdatabase | ft Name, Server, RPC* then the following is returned:
Name
Server RpcClientAccessServer
----
------ ---------------------
Mailbox Database 0189717500 TESTEX2K10 casarray.domain.co.uk
Dag Setup
under one dag can I have
3 servers with 3 databases each, copies on all 3 servers.
3 other servers, with 3 other databases, copies on these 3 servers?
Thanks
Pat
2 Events without Solution : 531(DB Corruption) and
Hello,
i am having a daily event on exchange2010 without a solution yet...
event 531 : Database Corruption
Information Store (2152) The database engine attempted a clean write operation on page 1259784 of database Y:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\Mailbox Database\Mailbox Database.edb. This acton was performed in an attempt to correct a previous problem reading from the page.
For more information, click http://www.microsoft.com/contentredirect.asp.
And event 218 : ExchangeStoreDB
At '11-2-2013 13:12:39' the copy of database 'Mailbox Database' on this server experienced a performance problem. Failover returned the following error: "There is only one copy of this mailbox database (Mailbox Database). Automatic recovery is not available.". For more detail about the failure, consult the Event log on the server for other storage and "ExchangeStoreDb" events.
what i have done :
1) eseutil for integrity check and checksum check --> no problems
2) upgrade storage to the latest firmware
Both without solution.
Are there any possibilities to fix this issue within exchange2010?
Thx

SSL Certificate warning after replacing it
Hello All,
Recently I've been getting the following error in event viewer and I'm having a problem resolving it. Basically a few months ago I replaced the expired SSL certificate with a new one that is not expired. I did it using the EMC by going to the Server Configuration, importing the new SSL cert and then assigning services to it. Then I deleted the old SSL Cert in the EMC.
I've also ran the get-exchangecertificate | list command in shell and verified that the only certificate shown is the new one that expires in 2017.
When I run Remove-ExchangeCertificate -thumbprint "BAA0ADE73AC10A9DE969FD1B78416521B24CA2D1"
I get the following error:
The certificate with thumbprint BAA0ADE73AC10A9DE969FD1B78416521B24CA2D1 was found but is not valid for use with Exchange Server (reason: PrivateKeyMissing).
+ CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Remove-ExchangeCertificate], InvalidOperationException
+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : 79C6D31B,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.RemoveExchangeCertificate
The old certificate had no private key that I'm aware of.
I've also tried removing the old certificate from certmgr but I'm still getting the error.
Can anybody shed any insight on what I might have missed?Event ID 24 - MSExchange WebServices

How to ensure offline address list in server is synchronised ?
After data update in AD, it will be replicated to exchanger sever, then replicate to another folder and allow outlook client to synchronise.
Is there any specific event in application log administrator can use to check the AD replication and replication between folders within exchange server are OK. Thanks in advance.

Force Exchange 2010 quota update
Dear all,
I have changed the setting of mailbox quota and would like to force this setting effective now. How to do it? Because there are lot of user using same DB, so I cannot restart it. Another other suggestion?
Exchange 2010 - WhiteSpace
Hi,
Mailbox Servers Exchange 2010 SP3 RU6. We are always running out of free disk space and as a solution, we used to perform mailbox movement, empty the DB, physically delete and recreate fresh copy and create 100% free space.
At time of Exchange 2003 also, we used to move the mailboxes to other DBs and reclaims whitespace to avoid sudden low disk space problem but (not sure) I feel exchange 2010 not working in same pattern. So I would like to know all information about white space that is handled by exch2010.
1. "keep deleted item for (days). = my scenario 30 days. I know its huge but I would like to know whether this option impacting my disk space usage (due to which I m running out of space?) and how its impacting whitespace?
2. Disconnected mailbox: After mailbox movement to other DBs, I could see all the mailboxes in "disconnected mailbox" - how its impacting my whitespace capabilities?
3. what best I can do to create more whitespace same as exch2003 with mailbox movement?
Thanks,
Sunad
Measure-Object TotalItemSize
I am trying to use the measure-object command to measure the average "totalitemsize" of all of our mailboxes. When I run the following it only returns the count
Get-MailboxStatistics -Server XXXXX | select totalitemsize | Measure-Object
Count : 1852
Average :
Sum :
Maximum :
Minimum :
Property :
Any ideas as to why it is not returning anything else?
Synthetic Transaction Accounts
I created a synthetic transaction account using "new-casconnectivityuser.ps1" to use with SCOM 2012. Although providing the OU in which to create the account I was unable to do so because it couldn't find the OU; which did exist. So I created the user in AD manually and mailbox enabled the account in Exchange. I can successfully run the command "test-webservicesconnectivity" successfully but the command "test-outlookconnectivitity" reports that it "failed to find the mailbox" for the test account. In addition there are continual Event ID 6 entries in the MSExchangeManagement log indicating the Cmdlet has failed.
Without this account working I am assuming that SCOM will be unable to run the test commands also.
The synthetic transaction account user id is correct: extest_5e62beff4b014. It is mail enabled and I can confirm this in Exchange.
Can anyone provide some insight on this? Is this a known feature or do I have to recreate the test user account again?
I have Googled this to a large extent and most issues center around the test account not existing, which isn't the case here.
The results of the commands below show the issue.

Exchange Server 2010 (SBS2011) has corrupted Public Folder Database log file
Hello all,
I have an inherited Exchange2010 installation running on SBS2011 that has developed a corrupted Public Folder Database log file, which is interfering with my backups running under BackupAssist v8.2.
Background:
server closet temperatures soared two weekends ago, throwing the Adaptec 6805 RAID controller into overheat. Server was shut down, and cooling was repaired. Server was restarted and is running with no problems. Server has TWO exchange databases, which are mounted, and Exchange is running.
Mailbox Database on E: drive using 52.4 GB
Mailbox Database log files on C: drive using 577KB
Public Folder Database 0793429716 on E: drive using 392MB
Public Folder Database 0793429716 log files on C: using 324MB
According to the Windows Application Event Logs, there is 1 corrupted log file in the Public Folder Database 0793429716, which is 0 bytes in length, and it is causing my backups to fail.
The event log reads:
eseutil (31772) JetDBUtilities - 29368: The log file \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy1022\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\Public Folder Database 0793429716\E0100003DB3.log is damaged, invalid, or inaccessible (error -4001) and cannot be used. If this log file is required for recovery, a good copy of the log file will be needed for recovery to complete successfully.
In addition, I am getting MSExchange ActiveSync errors with Event ID 1016 (approx. 1 per user), and MSExchange Search Indexer errors with an event id of 104.
I have been researching this situation for a few days, and have seen conflicting information regarding a remedy:
restore the file from a backup, DON'T restore the file, run the eseutil /r program, run the eseutil /P, DON'T run eseutil /P,
run eseutil /P as a LAST RESORT, etc.
I am asking for some guidance here, as I have very little exchange experience.
As an aside, I notice that the Public Folder Database is quite small, as compared to the Mailbox Database, and it appears to me that the active mailbox is the 'Mailbox Database'.
The corrupted log file has a creation date of 12/15/2011 and a modification date of 2/22/2015. Should I be worried about retrieving a file that old? Is it possible to drop the Public Database altogether, to make this corruption issue go away?
Thanks for reading,
any assistance is appreciated
AD Domain name change
We in the process of moving to a new AD domain name and retaining our current email namespaces. We have two AD domains in two forests. we have setup two way transitive trusts between the two domains. domain A is an old domain and domain B is our new Domain. We want to move our exchange users from domain A to Domain B but the user accounts will have new naming standards and not match the old AD account names. the email name spaces will remain the same. My thought was to setup exchange 2010 in domain B with empty mailboxes and public folders and then use some kind of tool to synchronize the data between the two exchange systems then cut over the users to their new domain accounts and mailboxes then reroute mail to the new system.
I am interested in any strategies and tools for this situation.

Upgrading from Exchange 2003 Bridgehead servers to Exchange 2010 Transport Hub servers for routing SMTP only

OWA 2010 to 2003 - does not redirect the request, and cannot connect to OWA using UAG
Hello All
I´m in a middle of a migration from Exchange to 2003 to 2010. Everything is almost done except the redirect problem.
2 Scenarios:
1- Internally i need to access the mailboxes in Exchange 2003 using the redirect.
2 - Externnaly i nee to access the mailboxes in Exchange 2003 using th redirect and using UAG.
Problems so far:
for the first scenario, users that already have their mailbox in 2010, can access and have no problem with it. Either access internally or externally.
for the first scenario users that have mailboxes in 2003 and use the OWA 2010 to login, have a double login issue. I can see the redirect for the second address but another popup comes on and only after a double login, the user can access their mailbox. I dont know what i can do more to resolve this issue.
for the second scenario, as already told users in 2010 have no problem, but users in 2003 show an error in OWA 2010 login:
Outlook Web APP
"you are not authorized to access this application"
Using the outlook Web APP to access a mailbox in 2010 it connect without a problem.
What i already did.
- Reset the virtual dirs in Exchange 2003 FE
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883380
- Enable Forms Authentication
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123832.aspx
- Export the certificate from Exchange 2010 and import in "Default Web Site" for exchange 2003
- Already check on Exchange 2010 OWA permissions in GUI and match the same on Exchange 2003 and IIS.
- Set OWA-VirtualDirectory configuration to silent
Any one have any ideas, because mine are running out.
Thank you all.
Installation of Exchange Server on DR Site
Hi,
I want to install exchange server on DR Site. So what are the basic requirements to install exchange on DR site. On our live site we have 2 mail box servers with DAG Configured and 2 HUB/CAS Servers. Also Following are my questions;
1. Replications of databases will occur on weekends only on DR site (Sat & sun)
2. How we configure DR site as a passive site (In case of failure of live site, How we will activate DR site as a live site).
Regards.
