DAG member no longer active exchange 2010

Hello!

We have taken over a customer with Exchange 2010 and they had a 2 server DAG setup. Problem is that the DAG member has been offline for over a year but not removed from the DAG configuration in Exchange.  I guess i can remove the server from the DAG membership but the server will still be "present" in my AD. 

Since it´s not supported? to manually remove Exchange 2010 do i need to install a server with recovery switch and then uninstall it?

Is it possible to detach an old users mailbox and link this to a new user?

If it is, will it use the new users email address etc?

Email delivery weired issue

We have internal application server which plan for sending email report..
i have added that ip into receive connector as well.

In application server configuration i inserted correct exchange smtp configuration which sends email to UserA (internal user)
If i run Delivery report from ECP it shows result as below delivered but if i check user mailbox; email is not received.
really stuck....in exchange messaging track also it shows delivered.....what to check now?

One of the users at a client site we support had received an email from an external party in 2014. The sender of the particular email had requested a read receipt. Apparently the request to send the read receipt was ignored by the recipient. 

However for no clear reason a "Not Read" receipt was sent to the sender of the originating email in 2016 (a few days back). Upon analyzing the message tracking logs on the client's exchange server, we have established that the "Not Read" receipt was indeed sent for the email which was received in 2014. 

Any assistance offered is much appreciated as the issue is quite bound by time and the user we support is a VIP contact at the site, demanding a comprehensive explanation for the issue which has occurred.

Testing my account with office365 and I noticed my IP cisco phone red-light does not work after I move back to my on premise exchange that is exchange2010 with the latest SP. I get the voicemail in my inbox but the light stays on the physical phone.

anything I can check with MFCMAPI?

When clicking Select users... link in order to research why a particular user is not receiving mail within our organization. Keep getting the error "The ActiveX control needs to be enabled in IE for Outlook Web App to work correctly." I have selected the IE option Tools > ActiveX Filtering but still cannot get past this screen.

No device listed in Manage Mobile Phone

I have three Exchange users that are unable to sync their mobile devices.  The device accounts are configured correctly, ID/password has been accepted, and the phone shows no conflicts - from their end, everything is green, but no email syncs, even though their Inboxes are populated.

On their Exchange account, the Manage Mobile Phone dialog box lists no devices.  (Normally, if there is no device partnership, the 'Manage Mobile Phone' option doesn't appear on the context menu.)

I suspect that this is part of their issue, so I clicked the 'Remove' button to see where that would get me.  I get an error, "The operation cannot be performed because no device has been selected."  Using the Tab key moves me into the device list field, but does not change the behavior of the 'Remove' button.  (The cursor control keys simply switch focus between the 'Remove' and 'Cancel' buttons.)

I used the Get-ActiveSyncDeviceStatistic cmdlet in Exchange Management Shell, but it returned no results for these users - the only change is a fresh prompt.  Of course, without a device name, I can't use the Remove-ActiveSyncDevice cmdlet.

I have enabled inheritance for all three user accounts in A.D., though I've had to re-set them for all three of the accounts at least once.  (What would cause them to reset to un-inherited?)

Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?  It's been driving me nuts for about a week, and my Google-Fu is failing me.

1) Does Exchange automatically retain all email unless the user's deleted item's is permanently deleted. Thus, allowing the user to recover the email through the "Recover Deleted Items from Server?" 

2)Where is the "Recover Deleted Items from the Server" configurable? 

3) If all emails are retained until the end user clears out the "Deleted Items' folder" then if one has retention policies created and you run Get-Mailbox | select UserPrincipleName, RetentionPolicy and no mailboxes has any assigned it is safe to assume this is the reason why emails have always been retained. 

4) Why does Exchange allow you to add a mailbox to the Retention Policy when there is no Enterprise CAL tied to the database? Would the answer be to allow you to use all other types other than the "Personal Tag?"

Failed DAG with 3 Members that spanned on 2 sites while network disconnected

Hi All,

Our Exchange Server 2010 DAG experinced lost quorum while having network disconnected about 30 minutes between Datacenter site and DRC site. DAG has 3 members: 2 Mailbox servers on Datacenter, 1 on DRC site. Previously, Primary Active Manager hold by Mailbox server on datacenter site. Technically, 1 node failed on 3 nodes cluster will still cluster on.

Below is the warning message displayed on Failover Cluster Manager

The cluster service is shutting down because quorum was lost. This could be to the loss of network connectivity between some or all nodes in the cluster, or a failover of the witness disk.

Node Majority - Warning: Failure of a node will cause the cluster to fail. Check the status of the nodes.

*Please note that while DAG still consisted of 2 members, cluster status still displayed File Share Witness.

*All servers OS are Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Ent Edition with KB 2550886 installed.

Count the total emails sent and received per user/users - from 6:00 AM to 5:59 AM next day

Dear all,

I am looking for script which will generate report of Emails sent and received by multiple users from 6:00 AM to 5:59 AM next day and daily will send report in email.

I have gone through scripts below

I am trying to setup auto-response for a distribution group in Exchange 2010.  I go to EMC>group properties>advanced and check "Send out-of-office message to originator".  

Then I get an error "membor can't remove themselves from security groups.  Please set the group to closed for requests to leave".  

Google resolution is to use "set-distributiongroup  <alias of group> -memberdepartrestriction closed". 

Can someone advise what that command does?  If I need to reverse it, how do I do it?  

disable set-distributiongroup mail-tip for a distribution group.

I use this command to send mail-tip to the sender of a distribution list in Exchange 2010:

Set-DistributionGroup -Identity "groupname" -MailTip "This distribution group will be decommissioned,please email to xxx@domain.com instead,thank for your cooperation."

How do I disable it?

Category colors not syncing

I have a client that has a local Exchange 2010 server and the users have a mix of Outlook 2010/2016. For one of their public folders, they use the color categories but I've noticed that on the Categories in where some users have changed the name, the colors won't sync to users that left the category with the default name. Do all users need to have the same name on the category in order for the colors to show?

Tools for Spam Distribution and Phishing

Exactly who got blown for your company to provide an exchange server sophisticated enough such that you need not assume liability for the action of users?  Every single time something such as a Phishing scam gets routed via this mechanism, you promptly advise e-mail users that it's not a Microsoft or Outlook server, so you can't get any usable info on it. Yet you provide these tools to fools who have no idea that some of us are prepared to phuk with their heads 'till they bleed out their ears, as well as knocking YOUR routers down like Dominoes! Please advise everyone when you are prepared to alleviate this problem, or I'm relatively certain that you'll be having a "fire sale" in the very near future! I'll be shorting my Microsoft stock as soon as the market opens today!

Send Connector TAB - Force Closed

Hi

I'm not sure why or how this has just started. When i open Exchange Management Console all is fine, but when i go to Organisation Configurationà Hub Transport and click on the Send Connector Tab an error box appears with a RED CROSS "Force Closed" and does not show my send connector, i have restarted the server, made sure all services are started except for POP and IMAP, done windows update, restarted again.

but still the same issue, not sure what the problem is or where to go from here so any help would be much appreciated.

How to start Multi-Mailbox Search

I have a user who sent a message to an external recipient and the sent message does not show up in her Sent folder. That happened right away. The message had been sent 2 minutes before I was called.

We asked the external recipient to forward us the lost message and they did. Based on all this information I was able to find the message using Message Tracking.

I want to find out if the message exists anywhere within Exchange's database.

I have found articles about the ECP and Multi-Mailbox Search but I cannot find where to start this Multi-Message Search within ECP. I have already given the administrator user, which I am using to search from, the Discovery Management role.

Can anyone help with this?

Search all Exchange 2010 mailbox for emails sent and received from a specific email address

Hello everyone,

I have been tasked to find out if there is a way to search all mailboxes on our Exchange 2010 database(s) for any email messages 'sent or received'from a specific email address (theiremailaddress@hotmail.com)? I didn't see anything in the management console but I thought maybe the management shell ahd that option.

We have an unusual request from management. Some of our customers fax contracts to a third party, that third party makes sure everything is in order and then sends us the finished version. They had an outage of their fax circuit and were down for most of the day. We are now being asked to set up using our existing Exchange 2010 environment a "queue" where the customer emails us the contract to a shared mailbox and from that mailbox forward it to the fax number. This way if there is an outage in the future, the impact to our customers becomes minimal. We are using RightFax so we can fax from Outlook but we would prefer to configure Exchange to handle this so it is one less potential headache with Outlook rules.

I am open for any ideas.

Unable to create new mailbox

Windows 2012 SBS

Exchange server 2010 release was working. We just upgraded to SP3 so Outlook 2016 would connect.

Now when we try to create a new mailbox we get

Error:
Active Directory operation failed on xxxx.xxxx.local. This error could have been caused by user input or by the Active Directory server being unavailable. Please retry at a later time. Additional information: Additional information: The global catalog verification failed. The global catalog is not available or does not support the operation. Some part of the directory is currently not available.
Active directory response: 000020E1: SvcErr: DSID-03200672, problem 5002 (UNAVAILABLE), data 0.

I have verified that the Exchange servers and Exchange enterprise server groups have manage log permissions.

One server environment. This server has all of the FSMO roles, it is master for forest and domain, etc.

It worked on the release version. Upgrade a few weeks ago to SP3 for new version of Outlook. Tried to create a new mailbox and now we get this error.
