Hello!
We have taken over a customer with Exchange 2010 and they had a 2 server DAG setup. Problem is that the DAG member has been offline for over a year but not removed from the DAG configuration in Exchange. I guess i can remove the server from the DAG membership but the server will still be "present" in my AD.
Since it´s not supported? to manually remove Exchange 2010 do i need to install a server with recovery switch and then uninstall it?
Regards
Martin
Working with a client on SBS 2011 and found that previous vendor didn't install updates. Trying to install Exch 2010 SP3 and errors out on WebServicesVirtualDirectory. (Was posted in administration, but found it might be better here.)
The mail server was working before trying to update to SP3 (there were no SP's installed at all).
Running the - Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "servername\EWS" returns an
InternalURL https://mail.servername.com/ews/exchange.asmx but the ExternalURL is blank.
They are using Barracuda 300 for spam filtering - would the config between the two cause the issue of blank ExternalURL?
Any help appreciated.
Tks

Language FilesHello guys,
In line of a company segregation away from our IT systems we created a single database (2 copies in DAG). The mailboxes of this company have been moved to this database in order to manage it in a special way and grant more storage capacities. The
challenge was to export back the mail archives to the original mailboxes (Enterprise Vault).
Unfortunately we faced continuously issues with the full backup which should truncate the logfiles. So the current sizes Are 2,75TB for the EDB and 4,75TB for the logfiles. Therefore the both database copies run out of sync. On Wednesday morning we
recognized an automatic failover due to the high I/O operations so that one database was resychronizing and the other one was stuck in the status “mounting”.
With eseutil we recognized that the one database was in status “dirty shutdown” though the whole server has not been shut down or restarted so the services where available all the time. We executed a soft repair with eseutil which took about 24h.
Afterwards the database (which was active)Successfully turned to “clean shutdown” state, but in this moment Exchange did a further automatic failover, so that the repaired database was not the active one anymore. From the error messages we could recognize,
that we cannot take the repaired database active, because Exchange want to check the logfiles and compare it against the other copy which could not be mounted like the repaired one before.
After a further check we recognized that this copy is in a “dirty shutdown” state as well. Executing a database move with skipping all the health checks did not succeed.
Example:
Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase database1 -ActivateOnServer dagnode2 -SkipHealthChecks -SkipActiveCopyChecks -SkipClientExperienceChecks -SkipLagChecks -MountDialOverride:BESTEFFORT
Softrepair of the other copy failed and hard repair as well because of I/O errors as well.
So simple question, we have one copy with logfiles in clean shutdown state. There must be a possibility to make this copy active if you have have lost the partition with the active copy. How is this possible?
Kind regards,
Christian
Still trying to figure out how both an ex-employee using their personal email and a random external user were able to email a Distribution List that's closed off to external users.
Thank you

Hello Team -
I have been getting an error stating "Cannot set the security descriptor of mailbox '825012e8-2672-444f-b5b2-28cba385e3cd' in Exchange mailbox database 'abad05e8-3695-4656-ad22-c647f6ec732a'." when trying to grant permission to a user for a shared mailbox.
Can anyone suggest a solution? Thanks! :)
Hi
Recently it appears the public folder replication has stopped working. Exchange 2010 SP3. I have a DAG with 3 servers hosting all roles. some DBs active one mail server and some active on another mail server. In effect all DBs on server1 use publicfolder1 and all DB's on server2 use publicfolder2.
If a user on a DB on Server1 creates a calendar entry in the publicfolder1 , a colleague on server2 cannot see that entry but if I move the user to a DB on server1 they can then see the entry.
I've enabled diagnostic logging but there's not a lot a lot of info, I tried to run ExFolders but get an error
Exception: 'Active Directory User Wasn't Found'
From articles it appears to be an empty "CN=Servers" container from old admin group which I do have, but I'm confused as to why it's started now as that old container has been around for years ? If I delete it do you think my replciation will fix and if it doesn't resolve can I just re-add the CN ?
Thanks
Hello, What can I do? I am able to make a PowerShell Remoting session and run the Exchange 2010 cmdlets. But when I try to get help for the Exchange 2010 cmdlets I do not get any details for the cmdlets. I get the following for example:
PS H:\> get-help Get-Mailbox -FullCarlos
Hope someone can help me.
I have exchange 2010. all works fine but I have security alert (the name of security certificate is invalid or doesnt match the name of the site) pops up only with users who have outlook 2013! and only popup once when they open the outlook. but users who have outlook 2007 and 2010 are working well with no errors.
the header line of this error is my exchange external URL.
Please note that this error only pops up when users connected locally. but externally works fine.
Please help..
Thanks.
Hello,
I am currently seeing an issue in which users of Exchange on one of our servers are not able to send OoO (out of office) emails via a smart host.Exchange forms the emails and attempts to send, however it is rejected by the smart host as it appears no “MAIL FROM:<>” is being added. Please see log snippet below.
Emails sent from Outlook by the same user do have a value in the “MAIL FROM:<>” field.
Has anyone had this issue before, and would you mind sharing how you dealt with it.
Any help is appreciated.

Hi,
I don't think my MRSProxy service is working properly. I enabled it after running the Exchange 365 hybrid wizard as it flagged that it was not setup. WHen I run get-webservicesvirtualdirectory |fl it shows as enabled. When I looked in the web.config there was noting at the bottom saying IsEnabled="true" (I have since added that)
When I try and add an enpoint using wnything other that autodiscover in 365 I'm advised that it could not establish a mrsproxy connection and to specify the server with it enabled. Using the fqdn or server then fails.
When I try to complete a remote mailbox move I get the following error:
The call to 'https://server.mail.co.uk/EWS/mrsproxy.svc' failed because no service was listening on the spec
ified endpoint. Error details: There was no endpoint listening at https://server.mail.co.uk/EWS/mrsproxy.svc
I have checked the GUID of the mailbox I am moving and it is the same. I have tried to use several accounts as the permissions account also.
One thing I have noticed is OAuth is not enabled on EWS and wondered if this was needed?
Thanks
Hi all,
We are currently running Exchange 2010 SP3 on Windows Server 2012, we have deployed some Office 365 (Office 2016) on Surface Pro 4 Windows 10 for test. Outlook 2016 runs with "Cached Exchange".
Today a user inform me that he has 9 emails blocked in the Outbox since 2 hours before. Other users has no problems, I try to make a "Receive/Send" via the button and Outlook has crashed. After the restart of Outlook I have noticed that there are no more emails in the Outbox, no mails in the "Send items", so... Are they definitely lost? Can it be somewhere in the user profil?
Thanks and sincerely.
Jo

https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/2963483
As per this link, it suggested to modify the below in registry
Instead of doing this for each and individual affected users PC . can we disable the windowauthentication to in Autodiscovervirualdirector in the CAS servers, if we disable it, is there any impact . Please suggest on this
is this correct solution ?
your fast response is much appreciated
hello folks,
after updating the external urls in the the ECP the ECP stopped working, then I recreated the virutual directories, reset the internal and external urls but no luck.
I allso set the authentication method, reinstalled IIS and then i decided to reinstall the Echange CAS, but I can't find that option. There used to be a option to untick the CAS role. Where can I find that?
thanks
Hi,
When I run the Hybrid Configuration Wizard I get the following error:
HCW8057 Offcie 365 was unable to communicate with your on-premises Autodiscover endpoint. This is typically due to incorrect DNS or firewall configuration. We already have an internal dns record for autodiscover which points to the CAS server. Microsoft connectivity analyser passes successfully also.
I have recreated autodiscover and added wssecurity.
Can anyone advise further please?
