Mail routing/non-delivery conundrum for a Monday

$

0

Situation:

2 Exchange systems, 1 is Exchange 2013 (main system), 1 is Exchange 2010 (contract system). Every employee for the company gets a mailbox on the main system, employees assigned to the particular contract also get mailboxes on the contract system. As requested, I've setup forwards on the mailboxes on the main system to forward their incoming email to the contract system. We do this all the time with contracts, and it works most of the time, but, as you guessed, it isn't working here.

I've built myself a mailbox on the contract system and have forwarded my main system mailbox to the contract system mailbox. I can directly email my contract system mailbox from my main system mailbox, mail is delivered fine. If I send an email to my main system mailbox from another account, the message is delivered to my main system mailbox, but not to the contract system mailbox. I've checked the Delivery Report on the main system, looks good, see the receipt and the forward. I've checked my firewall logs (Barracuda) and it shows the outgoing message being received and delivered by the firewall. But, nothing is ever delivered to the contract mailbox. I've perused the Delivery Report on the contract system and there's no logs of the message being received.

I'm puzzled.

  • I can send directly from my main system mailbox to my contract system mailbox.
  • I apparently can't have my main system mailbox incoming mail forward successfully to my contract system mailbox.

I didn't setup the contract system (Exchange 2010), I inherited it and there's no notes at all about how it was setup and why. I've gone through the settings, receive connectors, etc and nothing is popping out saying "here I am, fix me!"

Please help. Suggestions, comments, recommendations on where/how to debug this further, etc all welcome.

Thanks, Steven

Outlook Autodiscover not working in a Resource forest Exchange Environment

Hi,

We are facing a problem in autodiscover from outlook client.

We have a resource domain where the Exchange is situated. We have more than 10 different domains connecting to this exchange server. One new addition is facing this autodiscover problem.

We have SRV record already setup in the Resource domain for the Autodiscover record. From the user domain we receive correct response from the NSlookup.

When we connect to the Autodiscover XML from IE, it returns Error Code 600, which seems to be correct.

If we setup the Outlook manually by extracting the GUID for the user mailbox and using that, the Outlook 2013 connects.

But the Autodiscover does not work.

If we check the Autodiscover connection then it redirects to the correct CAS array but then it gets timed out.

Then it says that SRV record lookup fails.

The autodiscover is working for all other domains which we configured are working prefectly.

We are connecting through a VDI and this Autodiscover is happening through WAN. In all the other regions the autodiscover is through LAN .

Would really appreciate of I get any pointers to get more clue on this.

Thanks!

Exchange 2010 public folder rules

So, first time posting.  I have acquired an exchange 2010 environment.  They have a public folder (support) that is mail-enabled and is receiving emails from the outside world already.  They have created a sub-pf called doc_support (mail enabled),  They want all emails sent to the mail-enabled PF (support) that comes from a certain sender moved to the sub-folder.

I created a transport rule stating if user are outside of org and is sent to support@XXX.com and when FROM address matches incoming@XX.com comes, redirect message to doc_support sub PF.  I've given the user created, associated with the PF, owner permissions using ExFolders.

I've also logged onto webmail and set up a rule basically saying the same thing above.  I've stopped and started the transport service after creating rule, no avail.

How far off am I?

Access rights only to mail items of mailbox

Hi all,
I'd like to assign PublishingEditor permission to a universal mail-enabled security group.
To this end I configured PublishingEditor permission for the group on the mailitems folders (checked through EMS).
Furthermore I assigned the ReadPermission on the mailbox (checked through EMS).
When I open the mailbox in the navigation panel of an enabled user (account setting -> other setting -> advanced setting -> Mailboxes), Outlook returns error (cannot open mailbox, is not possible access to the specified path).
Software versions Exchange 2010 - Outlook 2016.
What I missed?

I beg your pardon because of italian software translations.

Thank you.

Hi,

I have a Exchange 2010 setup with around 120 accepted domains. All the users have matching smtp and upn.

I have configured autodiscover for HTTP redirect, so I don´t need 120 domains in my SAN certificate.

There is no A-record autodiscover.domain.com and not listening on port 443. etc. From ExRCA can I also comfirm the connection flow is correct.

When using https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com everything is ok, the users can connect with out any issues

When using iPhone/iPad everything is ok, the users can connect with out any issues

Outlook is also working as expected.

The problem is Android and Windows Phone. For Andriod are we using Outlook App and Windows Phone native app.

Cannot get ActiveSync with autodiscover to work for these phones, but it works if I manual configure it.I´m

What I´m i missing here?

Hello folks.

I think i have small question but i can't figure it out.

I want to export all mailbox permissions,Now this isn't a big problem but when i execute this command:

get-mailbox | Get-MailboxPermission | select-object AccessRights,Deny,InheritanceType,User,Identity,IsInherited,IsValid | export-csv -Path d:\test_permission.csv

I get a column AccessRights containing only "Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.MailboxRights[]" but when i execute it without the export i see the rights on the mailbox.

Does anyone have an idea what am i doing wrong?

Autodiscover exchange 2010 + 365

HI All,

I've seen a lot of auto-discover posts. but none and quite relevant, so here goes:

Exchange 2010 On-Prem (2 CAS + 2 HT's). Multiple Domains in AD all configured centrally then replicated down to different sites (each site has own domain name).

One of our sites has migrated to office 365 - they've created their own domain in 365 and authenticate with AD and have imported their stuff from exchange via .pst files. They now cannot resolve the names to e-mail accounts in outlook with 365.

We have removed the DNS records and added the autodiscover records as required, but they're still having issues, DNS is replicated from Central down to the sites. We still have other sites using On-Prem.

They can login fine on micrsoftonline, but cannot get it working in outlook 2010. We get a certificate error pointing to CAS, and it still doesn't resolve the name.

We have not been involved in the migration as this was done before I started a few weeks ago.

Any Help is much appreciated.

Thanks

move calendar from one user to another??

We have a departed user X who created and shared two calendars separate from her 'personal' calendar in Outlook 2010.

These two calendars have permissions on them (editor, reviewer) and are still in use.

I extracted each one as a *.pst file today.

What is the best thing to do to give/import these calendars to a current staff Y who has editor rights on both of these calendars??

Does Y have to first remove X's calendar from her Outlook then import X's calendar into her own Outlook??

Thank you, Tom

SMTP Relay between servers

I have a new Exchange 2010 server that is sending/receiving without a problem.  However, I now brought up a second server (2007 with SP2) to use for my BES.  This is working fine for sending and receiving as well; however, they both cannot e-mail users on each other's servers.

WHen I look at the queue viewer, it shows for the 2007 server:
Next hop domain: hub version 14 -> Delivery Type -> SMTP Relay in Active Directory Site -> and it fails to deliver

On the 2010 Server it shows:
Next hop domain: hub version 8 -> Delivery Type -> SMTP Relay in Active Directory Site -> and it fails to deliver

it just hangs there for the messages, any ideas?

Search-Mailbox returning unmatched messages

Hi,

I'm running the following powershell command to search for messages with the subject "Commerical Issues Meeting"

Get-mailbox | Search-Mailbox -SearchQuery "subject:'Phase X Commercial Issues Meeting' AND From:'Charles Drake'" –Logonly -loglevel full –Targetmailbox administrator –Targetfolder Inbox

This search is returning message with this subject however it is also returning messges with different subjects, such as "Project Management Team Meeting / Phase Y Site Visit" and "Phase Z Presentation". It appears to me that it is including messages with the word "Phase" in the subject instead of only messages with the subject "Phase X Commercial Issues Meeting" which is what I was expecting.

Can anyone offer any pointers as to what is wrong with my search query?

Many thanks

Robin

Public folders not discoverable from 365 within Hybrid setup Exchange 2010

Hi,

I followed the following guide to try and make my onprem public folders discoverable to my Hybrid mailboxes:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/library/dn249373%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

The only step I could not complete was step 5 as this is a 2013 command. Te folders are still not discoverable despite the script saying it created active directory objects for them. Can anyone help please?

Emails from Journal

Hi All,

We are using an exchange server (2010) as a journal server. Now there's a need to get email that are 2-3 years old as the user deleted them. What is the procedure to get the email from the journal mailbox.

We have a user mailbox for journal. I suppose if I can somehow access the mailbox I can retrieve the mail for the user. But how to access the mailbox OR is there any other way to retrieve the deleted mails?

Thanks!

Hybrid configuration - too few connections for remote delivery

$

Hello

Our current setup is like this:

-Hybrid configuration
-All inbound emails as well as emails from internal app servers go through on-premises postfix -> on-premises exchange -> Office365
-2 x Exchange 2010 SP3 RU8 (MBX/HUB/CAS) with Hardware Load Balancer

Email flows to O365 through a send connector with an address space of "tenant.mail.onmicrosoft.com" using MX records.

Transport Server values are configured like this:
MaxOutboundConnections                 : 1500
MaxPerDomainOutboundConnections        : 300

However, according to Performance Monitor the amount of connections that the send connector is opening is very low compared to the high limits that I've set above. It also gives me the impression that it somehow relates with the queue count. For example:

Messages queued for delivery:50
Current connections:3

Messages queued for delivery:130
Current connections:12

Messages queued for delivery:400
Current connections:18

Is there any way to force Exchange to open more connections in order to deliver emails faster?

Thanks.

Cannot set External Link for EWS

Hi Guys

I need to set the External Link for the EWS directory so OOF would be managable out side of the office.

First I run the command Get-webservicesvirtualdirectory | fl identity,internalurl,externalurl

And afterwards when I try to set an external link I always get the message that it couldnt find the Object 'SERVER\EWS <Default Web Site>'

I tried it with inverted commas, with out the "<Default Web Site>", with the domain after the servername and it just would not work.

Can somebody help me?

Problem with Search-Mailbox cmdlet

Hi all!

Having a problem searching emails with Search-Mailbox cmdlet.

The aim is to get only emails sent from B to A and nothing else.
Using key -SearchQuery 'To=A and From=B', gives emails with B in recipients and other emails having A and B in senders or recipients.
-SearchQuery 'To:А  From=В' gives the same result.
-SearchQuery 'To:А  From:В' gives error: "Keyword property is not supported.

The whole cmdlet: Search-Mailbox -Identity "mailbox" -SearchDumpster -SearchQuery 'To=A and From=B' -TargetMailbox "DiscoverySearchMailbox" -TargetFolder "A to B"  -LogLevel Full

How to force SearchQuery to get desired result?

Exchange Security Groups recreation

$

Hi everyone, we've got a big problem and can't see any solution:

Exchange Security Groups were deleted, recovered, replicated...

Finally they disappeared, and I tried to run setup /prepareAD to recreate them, but setup says groups already exist!

I found them in LostAndFound with SysInternal AD Explorer, but no modification is possible: it says objects don't exist when I click on them!!!

Notice that they aren't even visible with LDP...

Then, I need to get rid of any track of it before recreating them.

I can't find them anywhere anymore, although setup still says they exist...

We made the error of restarting exchange server, and now services can't start, saying they can't find exchange security groups !!

Does anyone know how to solve this unsolvable situation ?

Thanks in advance !!
